Abrar Ahmad, associate researcher at LUDC, and Leonie Mieke Engelhard, PhD student at LUDC, are the current chairs of the LUDC ECN committee. LUDC ECN is an academic network of early career researchers at Lund University Diabetes Centre, and the LUDC ECN committee is responsible for arranging several of the activities within the network.
Many early career researchers and students at LUDC have signed up for today’s LUDC Early Career Network Day, which takes place at Wallenberg Lab in Malmö. Leonie Mieke Engelhard has been the chair of the LUDC ECN committee for about two years, whereas Abrar Ahmad is new in his role.
“Today’s programme has a mix of research talks from colleagues and career talks from researchers within the industry and academia who will share their career journeys. For the first time, we have included an open discussion session where participants can tell us what they value with the network and what they would like for us to develop further,” says Leonie Mieke Engelhard.
Abrar Ahmad is looking forward to keeping up the good work within the LUDC ECN committee.
“The activities we arrange are very important as they give us an opportunity to engage in scientific discussions. The day ends with a social activity, which gives young researchers a chance to connect and exchange ideas, something that may spark new collaborations,” says Abrar Ahmad, chair of the LUDC ECN committee.
