๐ท๏ธ Understanding the Tick Life Cycle โ And Why Protection Matters! ๐พ
Ticks are more than just a nuisance โ they are carriers of serious tick-borne illnesses that can affect both pets and people.
Did you know that ticks have a 4-stage life cycle?
Egg โ Larva โ Nymph โ Adult
A single female tick can lay thousands of eggs in the environment. Once hatched, ticks must feed on a host (like your dog or cat) to move to the next stage of their life cycle. This means that without consistent protection, your pet can become part of the cycle.
๐ก How do tick & flea treatments work?
Many people think these products are โrepellentsโ โ but most modern tick and flea products are actually treatments.
โ๏ธ They work by killing ticks and fleas when they bite.
โ๏ธ The active ingredients circulate in your petโs system or spread across the skin.
โ๏ธ When a tick attaches and feeds, it ingests the product and dies.
By killing ticks quickly, we: โข Reduce the risk of tick-borne diseases spreading
โข Prevent fleas from laying eggs
โข Interrupt the parasite life cycle
โข Protect your home environment
When ticks die before completing their life cycle, we break the cycle and reduce the overall parasite population.
๐ฟ Consistent monthly (or recommended) protection is key โ even in cooler months, as ticks and fleas can still survive.
We stock a wide range of trusted tick and flea products โ available in-store and on our online shop ๐๏ธ
