Arthritis simply means 'inflammation of the joints' and is a common problem for many of our pets.
Arthritis in dogs🐶
Scientific studies indicate that 20% of middle-aged dogs and 90% of older dogs have osteoarthritis in at least one joint.
Arthritis in cats🐱
Studies performed since 2002 have determined between 60 and 90% of all cats.
There are many causes of arthritis:
✅Wear and tear with age.
✅Joint damage due to developmental problems and growth defects (e.g. hip and elbow dysplasia)
✅Spurs
✅Traumatic damage to a joint or
growth plate.. Including surgery
✅Previous infection within a joint

According to the Western Cape FMD notice:
FMD has been confirmed in parts of the Western Cape
- Checkpoints help stop the movement of the virus and safeguard the agricultural sector.

FMD does NOT affect humans and is not a food safety risk

A recent consultation highlighted a 10-year-old dog exhibiting symptoms of bloody stool, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Given the patient's vaccination status was not current, our doctor approached the case with caution.

The patient subsequently tested positive for Parvo virus (Katgriep), the oldest case in our clinic to date.

We emphasize the importance of keeping vaccinations up to date for your pets' well-being.
