I’m sorry (not sorry) for flooding my feed with fungi 🍄 I’m a little obsessed! I believe this might be some kind of mushroom. It’s one of many fungi species that enjoys a symbiotic relationship with trees, swapping nutrients and moisture. I love the and the earthiness.

This is a real delight! Hare’s foot ink cap mushrooms. They magically transform from the soft furry paw into the inside-out parasol in the course of a mere 24 hours! It’s so easy to miss all this fantastic fungi. Just pause a while and peek into the leaf litter. You’ll be surprised what you find!

Hunting fungi in the forest I came across these on a rotting trunk. There seems a shortage of mushrooms this season. Are they just late or did the hot and dry summer put them off? These are poisonous. I would need to 1000% certain before eating any fungi. Too many deadly varieties look like edit ones!! The fun is in the hunt. Slowing right down and really LOOKING. then suddenly you will start spotting them everywhere. A bit like fairies 🤪😉😉😉

Cluck cluck it’s an edible fungus that … you guessed it … tastes like chicken 🐓 At this time in the season though it’s pretty tough. You want to catch it when it’s still a chick 🐥 Of course we are about to hit fungi season when every foray into the woods and parks comes with the added excitement of finding all those beauties growing in the undergrowth, making fairy rings or colonising dead and living wood.
