It's so important to get adequate protein!

Protein is an important nutrient for your health. It helps build and repair bones and muscles but there is much more to know about why protein is needed for good overall health.

Don't vow to make a resolution.

Vow to make one small change that is sustainable and can get you closer to whatever it is you are striving for.

Then, once you've got that down, make another small change.

No change is too small, and if you don't succeed with that change, you learned something from it.

Every attempt we make is an opportunity.

We succeed and we learn.

Or we fail and we learn.

It's all good!

But my hope is that you are able to focus a little on you this year.

And build yourself up!

Here's to a healthy and safe year filled with growth and progress!

New Year's Resolutions are overrated.

And pour on a heck of a lot of pressure.

Skip all that and pick one word.

Build an intention around that one word.

Something you can come back to as a reminder, an encouragement, an anchor.

If you like the challenge of a resolution, by all means go for it!

Especially if you have had success with that approach.

For a lot of us, myself included, we thrive under less pressure and more grace.

Set yourself up for success, progress and encouragement.

Try choosing a word that speaks to you and what you need most this coming year.

Post that word where you can see it regularly and lean into it.

I'll post my word in the comments.

Feel free to share in the comments or DM me with your word.

I'd love to know what you are all going to anchor yourself with this year!

Whatcha doing tomorrow evening?

Join me for a FREE virtual workshop to discuss bone health and exercise.

There will be some theory to deepen our understanding and then we will put that knowledge into our bodies with an active component.

Specifically we'll talk about how our bones change over time, how to make daily activities spine safe and opportunities to ask lots of questions.

I'm a learner by doing so my hope is that may help you too!

Hope to see you there!

This is an exercise that I think everyone can and should be doing!

The birddog is excellent for torso/core strength and control.

Including strengthening your spine.

It also builds strength and balance throughout your body.

If getting down onto the ground is hard for you or kneeling isn't an option, try the photo versions of the exercise.

Keep in mind that the more angled you are, the more challenging the exercise.

If you want even more challenge, get on the floor and try it.

If you need less challenge, try only lifting or raising one limb at a time.

Every variation is helpful.

Start where you are and build from there!

This is one of the foundational movements I have all my clients complete in their programs.

It really is that good! But the benefits are in the details of how you do the exercise.

If this one feels easy for you, I'd argue that you haven't found the right challenging variation yet!

Comment below if this is a staple in your exercise plan.

I would love to know what variation you are working with!

Protein is really important for improving and maintaining bone health!

This is a great video from the University of Waterloo and Research Institute for Aging (RIA) to help you understand how much protein you need to be getting to reap the benefits.

New research is supporting that anyone aged 65+ needs more protein to maintain healthy body functions. How much are you getting in a day?

Eat up to stay strong!

In this video you will learn:-how to calculate how many grams of protein you need in a day-how to modify that number if you are very physically active, or if...

What motivates you?

Do you find it helpful to reach your goals when you have others to lean on for support?

I'm looking to support a small group of friends that want to take on the challenge of better bones and over all health together!

Accountability is really important when you are trying to make a change.

And a great way to find that is to make changes together and keep checking in and cheering each other on!

Plus getting a plan and some experienced guidance along the way can super size the results ;)

So have a chat with some friends and DM me 'together' for more information on what a group program with support looks like.
