🎨🏡 Update on our Chicken Old West Town! 🐔🤠

I’m excited to share the latest news regarding our growing western town of chickens and the remarkable progress made by our Young Men’s Self Leadership group! 🌟

In the upcoming weeks, we will be wrapping up the construction of the new chicken coop, thanks to the unwavering efforts of these exceptional boys. But that’s not all! 🛠️✨ We have even more plans in store! We will be painting and revamping the existing chicken old west town to create a vibrant and engaging space for our feathered residents.

With creativity and enthusiasm, we aim to transform the town into a captivating oasis that reflects the spirit of the Old West and provides a comfortable home for our chickens. 🎨🏡

Stay tuned for further updates as we embark on this exciting phase of our project. Let’s continue to support and celebrate the hard work and dedication of our Young Men’s Self Leadership group and the flourishing partnership with Happiness Through Horses!!

"Your mind is a garden, your thoughts are the seeds, you can grow flowers, or you can grow weeds." - Unknown

This quote reminds me of the power of our thoughts and the impact they have on our mental health. We have the ability to choose the thoughts we entertain and cultivate in our minds. Just like a garden, we can choose to nurture positive, healthy thoughts or let negative, harmful ones take root.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in depression, anxiety, and behavior disorders among youth. Factors such as changes in family structures, academic and social pressure, and technology usage have contributed to this trend. However, programs such as Stables of Hope and Happiness through Horses can help by providing a safe and supportive environment for young people to develop the social-emotional skills they need to thrive. Through equine-assisted activities and other programming, young people can build resilience, learn to manage stress and anxiety, and develop meaningful relationships with their peers and with the horses.

It was a beautiful day at Stables of Hope and Happiness Through Horses, where the kids had a great time riding and enjoying the sunshine. The experience was not only beneficial for the children's mental health, but also for the horses, as they received the exercise and attention they needed.

Horses are social animals that have the ability to form emotional bonds with humans. This can provide individuals with a sense of connection and comfort, which can be particularly beneficial for those who feel isolated or lonely.

March is recognized as Self-Harm Awareness Month, an opportunity to raise awareness about self-harm, reduce stigma around the issue, and provide support and resources for those who are struggling with it. Self-harm can take many forms, including cutting, burning, and scratching, and it often stems from underlying mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, or trauma. By promoting understanding and education about self-harm, we can work towards reducing its prevalence and helping those who are affected by it. It's important to approach self-harm with compassion and understanding, and to work towards reducing the shame and stigma associated with it.

About nine months ago, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Kim Swaney, the founder of Happiness Through Horses, to speak with Grant from the Taking it for Granted Podcast. Our conversation centered around our shared missions to support youth struggling with mental health issues and the pervasive impact that mental health has on young people today. If you're interested in learning more about the work that Kim and I are doing to address this important issue, I encourage you to listen to the podcast using the links below.
