ZenMINDpod invites you to find stillness, by always practicing and prioritising your health, wellbeing & self care rituals.

Yoga has always run throughout and alongside my adult life, practicing for over 30 years. 💜 blissful and productive.

After all the recent weather disruptions, storms, cold and unsettled weather as we’ve entered the new year and Blue Monday yesterday. Although the aurora surely lifted everyone’s mood, who was lucky enough to have seen it.

Here are some gentle yin yoga poses to support you to achieve deep rest, relaxation and restoration. 🙏

Saddle pose (Supta Virasana) is a deep Yin yoga stretch for quadriceps, hip flexors, and ankles, involving kneeling with knees wide, big toes together, and leaning back onto hands, elbows, or the floor allowing for a heart-opening backbend. However if you struggle with sensitive knees, ankles, or lower backs, using props like blankets or blocks for support to avoid injury can be helpful.

Sphinx Pose (Salamba Bhujangasana) is a gentle yoga backbend where you lie on your belly, prop yourself up on your forearms with elbows under shoulders, and lift your chest to open the front body, strengthening the spine and improving posture, especially beneficial after sitting, but should be avoided with sharp back pain or during pregnancy. Key to the pose is engaging the thighs and subtly drawing the lower belly in to support the lower back as you lift, keeping shoulders relaxed away from ears, and breathing deeply.

Use the concept of visualising a box in your minds eye during this process, can help.

Inhale - then pause for 4 seconds.
Exhale - then pause for 4, visualising creating equal sides of the box, for equal amounts of time.

With gratitude, patience, not rushing taking your time. Lifting the corners of your mouth up, smiling at yourself.

Friday afternoon Supine Crescent Moon or Banana pose, banana-ah-san-ah.

Give yourself time to reboot and a space for self care.

This pose helps deeply stretch the entire body, improves spinal flexibility, relieves tension, and boost shoulder mobility. Alongside being excellent for relieving stress, is grounding, increases our awareness, is especially beneficial at reducing bodily tension.

Always make sure you do this stretch on both sides equally. It also stimulates our energy meridians and helps calm the mind.

Learn with movement, stretching and breathwork to be present, let go, calm & soothe. Enjoy

At times of uncertainty remember your breath, meditation and mindfulness practice can be hugely supportive and can enable detachment. Is grounding and incredibly anchoring. Giving you inner spaciousness to let go process with kindness grace and gratitude. 🙏

Always know that focusing on your breath, helps anchor you into the present moment. Away from overthinking, criticism, anxiety and negativity.

Inner peace, calm and the ability to detach from ourselves. To quieten our mind, reduce overthinking, anxiety, rumination OCD, depression & low mood is simple when you know how.
