Good morning all! I hope everyone is well and enjoying the holiday season.

I'm starting a podcast and am looking for anyone in sobriety who might be interested in sharing their story of addiction and recovery. Just looking to spread some experience-strength-and-hope to others in recovery and help anyone who might be looking for resources.

If you are interested please message me or email me at asonofrecovery@gmail.com.

Peace!

Good morning! This morning I am reading part 15, "Watching Out for Anger and Resentments," from the AA book, Living Sober. Anger and Resentments. Two things that can sneak up on me pretty quickly and without me realizing. I remember times where I would be so angry, and almost have an out-of-body experience, looking at myself yelling and thinking, "Why are you so angry?" It all connects to self-control and how in my addiction, I gave away my self-control to something else, and the 12-Steps helped me learn how to have it again. It takes time but it is so worth it. Please leave any comments, questions or thoughts. Blessings.

Good morning! This morning I am reading part 14, "Fending Off Loneliness," from the AA book, Living Sober. Loneliness is the worst thing you can give an addiction. Loneliness feeds the addiction making it more difficult to manage. The pandemic has not been easy for most people, but even more for addicts. Isolation is not good for any human being. This section talks about how to manage loneliness and some wonderful ideas to help. Please leave any comments, questions or thoughts. Blessings.

Good morning! This morning I am reading part 13, 'First Things First,' from the AA book, Living Sober. Things section is about the old saying, "First Things First," which for most AA members usually means the first thing I do everyday, all the time, in every situation, no matter what, it not drink. As long I just don't take that first drink, I am already setting myself up for success. It reminds me of the saying, "keep things simple." Don't over complicate things. First things first, just don't drink. Please leave any comments, questions, or thoughts. Blessings.

The phoenix still had some burning to do. The flames had been extinguished, but the embers were still glowing and cooling down. I don’t remember what time I got up or what I did that day. I know I didn’t go to work, I didn’t have my car, I had a lot of paperwork to go through, and I had a lot ...

Good morning! This morning I am reading part 12, Getting Plenty of Rest, from the AA book, 'Living Sober.' Sleep! We all could use some more of it, and it is a constant problem for a lot of people, not getting enough sleep. I remember a moment just after my 90 days of sobriety and I felt rested. It was the first time in a long time that I felt that way. Allowing ourselves to rest more and get the sleep we need is important. Please leave any comments, questions, or thoughts. Blessings.

Good morning! This morning I am reading part 11, Availing Yourself of a Sponsor, from the AA book "Living Sober." A sponsor can be an incredible support and tool when first becoming sober and working through the steps. Again, it is all about communication and learning how to be and live with other people, and my sponsor was awesome. They have a tendency to become life long friends. This section is a bit long but the information is really great. Please leave any comments, questions or thoughts. Blessings.

Good morning! This morning I am reading part 10, Making Use of Telephone Therapy, from the AA book "Living Sober." Using your telephone and calling friends or family, is not only important early on in sobriety, but for your entire life. Picking up the phone to talk about issues in sobriety helps make you comfortable to call and talk with anyone, about anything. It is about communicating with other people, and that is key in sobriety. I had to communicate my needs and issues in order to get help, and eventually be a help to others. It is about giving and receiving. Please leave any comments, questions, or thoughts. Blessings.

Good morning! This morning I am reading part 9," Eat or Drink Something, Usually Sweet," from the AA book 'Living Sober.' This is certainly about dealing with cravings and the use of candies and other sweets especially in early sobriety. But it definitely goes further and discusses our overall well-being and feeling satiated after eating. This is about learning how to listen to our bodies and filling it with things our body needs and not just craves. It is being mindful of ourselves. Please leave any comments, questions or thoughts. Blessings.

Good morning! This morning I'm continuing to read 'Living Sober' and I am on part 8, Changing Old Routines. I remember early on changing a lot of routines in my life. Basically changing people, places, and things I used to do or hang out with. It is hard but necessary, and as I continued making changes, I started realizing how my better I felt. I was not focused on my well being rather than what people thought of me. Please leave any comments, questions or thoughts. Blessings!

Some of my story. Blessings.

It is hard for me to know where the story of my alcoholism actually begins. Do I believe that I have a physical addiction, some call an allergy or disease? Yes, I do. Does everyone who is an alcoholic have a physical addiction? I don’t know the definitive answer to that, but I do believe so. I als...

Good morning! Today I continued my reading of the AA Book, 'Living Sober,' with part 3, The 24-hour plan. This is all about keeping things simple and not over whelming ourselves with expectations. This is about taking responsibility for our health and our wellbeing, not promising anyone anything except for ourselves, and just not drinking for today. And if that is too much, then just an hour. This is about us and no one else. Please leave any comments questions or thoughts. Blessings.

Good morning! Today I read part 2, "Staying away from the first drink," from the AA Book, 'Living Sober.' Remember, this book is not about getting sober, this is about living and staying sober. Look back to the AA Big Book if you need some more about getting sober. But regardless, whether getting sober and living sober, we just simply need to stay away from the first drink. That is it, and AA members of decades have found this simple task to be true. Please leave any comments, question or thoughts. Blessings.
