Machrihanish Golf Club turns 150 years old - and I am very lucky to call it my home club.

There's something about this place that gets under your skin and into your heart. The links, the breezes, that tee shot off the first over the Atlantic. It humbles you and lifts you every single time.

I've been a member for nearly 10 years now and I still get that feeling walking to the first tee. Like nothing else matters for the next few hours.

Golf has taught me a lot about life and health. The days you least feel like showing up are often the ones that matter most. Consistency beats perfection every time. And being outside, moving, breathing fresh air - there's no supplement on earth that replicates that.

Happy 150th to one of the most special places on earth.

My clients succeed because they took back control.

They were tempted by Ozempic too.

But they knew quick fixes couldn’t fix a lifetime of hormone shifts, muscle loss, and metabolic damage from all the diets.

So they did something different.

✅ Ate more (not less)
✅ Trained smarter (not harder)
✅ Focused on consistency over control

And the results?

💥 Fat loss.
💥 Strength.
💥 Confidence.
All without injections, diets, or rebound weight.

💭 What if this time, you built a body that didn’t need a prescription to feel good?

This is your comeback. Let’s make it real.

Wanting to understand why weight just Will Not Shift once you hit menopause? And what to do instead?

Take simple, straightforward strategies - that make sense - do them for long enough - and you'll get there.

I am not talking about red-light therapy or weighted vests - nope. Just thinking, eating and exercising the right way for how our amazing bodies are these days!

I'm going into the details in my 3 day workshop at 6pm GMT on Tuesday 13th. Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th over Zoom.

When I was a kid on the farm, we loved catapults (we called them cattys) - you might call them slingshots. We made them from the right-shaped piece of wood from an unsuspecting tree. We stripped off the bark and left it to dry in the hot sun for a few days. Then we tied the ends of a long thin strip of inner tube to each end of the wooden 'Y' shape. And we would have fun with these things for days and days on end.

Today I have that lovely feeling of pulling the stretchy rubber back.

I have cleaned out my oven - done the whole Oven Pride thing with rubber gloves on - and scrubbed the racks. It's a-gleam.

My fridge is cleared out and is sparkling clean and fresh.

I have been through the pantry and been RUTHLESS. Wiped down all the shelves - and did that thing of having all the labels facing forward. So much more room in there now! I can see everything!

The freezer gets defrosted tomorrow and again - I will be without mercy - and everything that does not make the grade will be ditched. And it will be cleaned within an inch of its life!

The kitchen will be clean and fresh and filled only with good healthy food.

And I will sit down and write out a simple meal plan for next week, go and buy the groceries I need and take some time do a a little meal prepping - even if it's only chopping a few onions.

All of these things are pulling the the catty back. I am building a powerful store of potential energy for our health, our energy and strength in 2026.

If you want also want to get some momentum on your health in 2026, I'm running a free three day workshop 13th to 15th January over Zoom on how to get back into shape in midlife.

've been thinking a lot about my mother lately.

In March I will be the age that she was when she died. 😥

I have so many feelings of deep love and loss: how incredibly lucky I was to have her as my mother, how much I learned from her but how much of my life she has missed.

She was a nurse - following a long line of women health-givers and healers before her. But she suffered from poor health herself and put her own health below everyone else’s.

She told the most amazing stories - about her childhood growing up in Harris in the Outer Hebrides - how the Northern lights were silent but so magnificent she thought there should be a full orchestra playing to accompany them - the harsh storms when the wind would literally howl around the house - how she used to collect dewy spiders webs in the mornings with her grandmother (who used plants and herbs as a healer) as they made the best bandages - how she read a book a day (plus all the books in her grandparents’ loft) - how they called her ‘The Dictionary’ at school - how she mispronounced words because she had only read them and not heard them (she thought ‘unshed’ (as in tears) rhymed with bunched) - how she learned love from her grandparents while her parents were busy in WW2.

Then her stories later about nursing in Glasgow and being a midwife - how she adored it - how the doctors said she was smart enough to have been a doctor herself - how she had to starch her cap and iron her uniform every day as her midwife hospital was so strict about procedures and appearance - how the Glasgow gangs would step back in the middle of a fight and let her pass through (in her nurses uniform) as she was on her way to deliver a baby in a tenement building - how the bottom inch of her white petticoat would be black with pollution when she got home.

Then her stories about working with Professor Ian Donald. His brother worked in Iraq on the oil pipelines leading teams looking for cracks in the hundreds of miles of steel pipelines. They developed an approach based on echoes from sound waves to reveal the internal structure of the steel for cracks - so they didn’t have to dig them up to check them - but they could find exactly where they needed to work to prevent the dangerous and expensive leaks. This inspired Ian Donald to think about using sound waves to look inside the womb - safely and non-invasively. With him, in the 1950s, she saw a baby’s heartbeat at 6 weeks gestation - long before you could hear a heartbeat. This was brand new information - people didn’t believe the foetus was ‘human’ until much later in pregnancy. He was the pioneer of ultrasound in medicine and my amazing mother worked alongside him. They remained close friends until he died. And my mother was passionate about protecting life as a result of what she had seen.

So I now work in health - bringing health, strength and energy to women in midlife who are looking to get into better shape. I was lucky enough to work and train with Bill Phillips to improve my own health and to get my Body for Life Health Coach certification.

This work is so meaningful to me - my great-grandmother was the go-to healer on the island, my grandmother and mother were both nurses - and I finally moved from transformation change in corporate business to transformation change in our health - at last!

I am running a 3 day workshop 13th to 15th January at 6pm UK time to teach why the changes in our bodies in midlife make it so hard to lose weight and how we have to do it. Here’s the link to sign up if you would like to come:

I still remember the exact moment I learned that it’s not that women over 40 can’t lose fat. It’s that we don't know the right way to do it.

This message (it was from Bill Phillips) gave me such a feeling of hope and possibilities that I was ready to try to get back into shape once more.

We’ve been told: eat less, move more, take this quick fix. And we tried these too - especially when we were younger.

But that damaged our metabolism and left us overweight, more tired, more frustrated, and less confident than ever.

I'm running a 3 day workshop in January to teach you how to:

✅ Protect your metabolism
✅ Lose fat without rebounding
✅ Boost your energy in midlife
