Join genealogist Nicka Sewell-Smith from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, at the Cherokee Nation Anna Mitchell Cultural & Welcome Center and on Saturday, March 18, at the Cherokee National History Museum for the Cherokee Freedmen History Presentation. She will dive in-depth into a wide range of Cherokee Freedmen history and ancestral research. Attendees will hear the true stories of the First Kansas Colored Infantry and well-known Cherokee Freedmen, Isaac Rogers, as well as learn about African American genealogy in Oklahoma and how to research your ancestry.
