Shape Up

Shape Up We help busy women and mums drop 1-2 dress sizes in a sustainable, enjoyable, & healthy way. It is easy to write admirable values, it is harder to live by them.

PURPOSE AND VISION

Our purpose is to genuinely change people’s lives, to help them have a healthier relationship with food, exercise, and themselves, to create meaningful permanent changes and to build a community of 000’s of women that feel part of something truly special. What truly separates from all the rest is our relentless pursuit to genuinely make a meaningful difference in our members lives. To lead, impact, influence, and support our members in making long term sustainable and permanent changes. Where eating healthy, exercising, and feeling good about themselves are a normal part of their routine.

.. and also to help women who haven’t always felt confident in a gym setting to feel comfortable and like they belong. To help them become part of a community of like minded women on the same mission together. To help them fall in love with exercising properly and becoming stronger in body and mind. MISSION

To genuinely change the lives of 000’s of women all over the world. To wake up everyday and bring extreme value, to impact, influence, and lead. To truly make a difference in peoples lives by providing the best environment, community, support, and service they have ever experienced. Every member of the shape up team is expected to truly live the values, help each other live by them, and hold each other accountable for being role models.

Your BEST RESULTS will come when it’s not perfect….

… if you’re someone who struggles when you’re not perfect or has a bit of the all or nothing mindset…

Then listen up!

Some of the best growth comes when it’s not perfect, but you still grind it out.

The days where it was just good enough or the next best thing rather than nothing.

Will stand to you a lot more than showing up perfectly when it’s easy to.

I would say it’s one of the most important skills you could ever learn.

A 3/10 day is better than ZERO.

The biggest thing killing progress is constantly stopping.

It’s impossible to be 100% all of the time.

But you don’t need to be either.

One of the most important things to do is to keep consistency, continuity, and momentum.

Sadly, so many of us feel like if we haven’t done everything perfectly then it’s a failure.

I get that.

But when we think like that we miss the fact that there’s so many positives in just barely scrapping through a day.

There’s always so many balls juggling all the time.

Work, the kids, housework, friends, your relationship, study, trying to get in better shape.

You’re being pulled in 50 million directions.

So it’s clear, a few balls will fall sometimes…

… but that’s okay.

You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to keep going!

Stop letting normal parts of the journey completely derail you.

Learn the skill of winning ugly.

Some days you’ll prep all your food, get 20,000 steps, get a workout, hit your water, hit your protein…

… but that’s the exception not the norm

It’s grinding out the 6/10 days, the 4/10 days, the 2/10 days is where the REAL magic is

Because normally on those days is when you just let it go to 0, doubt yourself, give up on yourself, think what’s the point…

… being able to make that switch, is where you’ll see your results SKYROCKET

because you stay in the game

And if you want help with that?

I’d love to talk to you….

SiCk 🤒

The last few days have been rough in our house.

Ryleigh started getting sick on Saturday and I had to stay on the floor beside her cot all night.

Then Sunday Sophia started getting it.

And then on Monday I could feel it coming on.

I had to work extra long hours on Monday and Tuesday.

So by Tuesday evening I was floored!

So, I took Wednesday, Thursday and Friday easy, just a small bit of work from home each day.

The house has been crazy this week 🤪

With runny noses & coughs everywhere.

Anyway, why am I telling you this….

Simple really, because this is an example of the kind of real world thing that will happen to you on your quest to get in better shape.

But because people are so conditioned to follow the old way of doing things where they have to follow really strict rules 😫

When stuff like this happens, it feels like a disaster, like they’ve ruined their progress.

The all or nothing mindset kicks in.

They give up or get really frustrated about it.

And I’m here to teach you a better way 💪

You see, you need to Anticipate things like this, factor them in…

… understand it’s part of the journey!

We get so caught up in feeling like it’s all got to be perfect to get to our goal, that when it isn’t, the doubt kicks in 😩

But it will never be perfect.

And scenarios like this are a regular occurrence when you’ve got kids.

It’s key to know that a few days out of routine won’t derail you.

Get out of the short term mindset.

Put it into context in the long run.

Have some self compassion.

Manage the situation as best as possible.

Deal with the priority at hand.

Then get back to normal asap.

But the biggest shift here is the mental one 🧠

Because when things like this happen we tend to catastrophize it.

“This means everything is ruined, I knew it wouldn’t work, I’ll always be like this, what’s the point..”

But if we can get out of that mindset, see it for what it is, which is just a normal part of life and any long term fitness journey…

… then it’s not really a big deal.

So we can manage it better and get over it better.

If you’d like help with this?

I’m here when you’re ready.

On this day 6 years ago two blonde girl walked in the doors of TNT gym (where I originally worked out of) for the first time.

Wondering what the hell they were getting themselves in for 😂

It will ALWAYS hold a very special place in my heart and the history of this business.

Genuinely FOREVER grateful for the two of you showing up for a 6am trial 6 years ago.

I always feel like that was the new start (rebirth) of Shape Up.

And what a pair to have at the very start and set the culture of the community of shape up.

Genuinely couldn’t of picked two better people to have to be the “founding members”

I bet they never thought in their wildest dreams they’d still be here 6 years later showing up consistently at 6am 3 times a week.

And when you consider that…. 90% of People Quit After 3 Months of Hitting the Gym…

It’s quite exceptional to be consistently showing up and investing in your health for 6 years

Well done and thank you 😊💪

Willpower is not something you should need all the time, it’s something that needs to be used occasionally for sure, in specific moments, but if it feels like you’re constantly needing to use willpower, then something is very off.

I’ve been doing this a LONG time.

I’ve helped over 1,200 women now.

And in my experience.

The best diet is the one that is enjoyable, maintainable, and sustainable, and you can see yourself doing it a year from now.

It has to include personal preference, you have to align it with your values and longer term goals.

It has to work in real life conditions (you can’t follow a meal plan some 20 year old PT wrote in their parents kitchen when you’ve got kids, work, bills etc)

The best diet, is actually more a set of guidelines and principles rather than RULES and RIGIDITY.

It TEACHES you rather than TELLS you

GUIDES you rather than RESTRICTS you

Ultimately it needs to be something that improves your relationship with food, gives you confidence in your food choices, and feels “normal”

Your “best” diet would be different than my “best” diet

Yes, we do both need to be following the same governing principles and guidelines…

But there is no one size fits all.

Cookie cutter doesn’t cut it here.

And the good news is that, this is exactly what we’ve created with shape up.

Which is also why it works so well.

And if you want help?

I’d love to hear from you

There’s two types of people who really need to hear this…

… first, the person who’s always obsessed with the result and the outcomes but never actually follows any process, they just wing it, or kinda sorta do a bit, but never really commit and then get annoyed because they don’t get any results and give up.

… second, is the person who does follow a process but they are too focused on results in the short term and let minor setbacks, their expectations and doubts stop them from being consistent long enough to get there.

Which one are you?
