💙 RESOURCE ALERT FOR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISM 💙

Browns Ferry Community Outreach wants to share an important opportunity for families caring for a child with autism.

The MyGOAL Autism Grant Program is now accepting applications for a $1,000 grant to help support families of individuals under 18 years old with autism across the United States.

⚠️ Important Note: Only 25 recipients are selected nationwide, so we strongly encourage eligible families to apply early.

📅 Application Window:
🗓 February 1st – April 30th
📣 Grant decisions are typically announced in mid-July.

This grant may be used to support autism-related needs such as therapy, educational supports, safety items, and other approved expenses.

✨ Personal note: A local family successfully received this grant last year, so we know firsthand that it’s a valuable opportunity.

✨ Black History Month Spotlight: Brad Lomax ✨

Brad Lomax helped change the world for millions—especially our children.

Brad Lomax was a Black activist, a member of the Black Panther Party, and a man living with multiple sclerosis. He understood firsthand how racism and ableism often intersect—creating barriers to education, employment, transportation, and basic human dignity.

Instead of accepting those barriers, he challenged them.

In 1977, Brad played a key role in the historic 504 Sit-In, demanding that disability rights laws be enforced. Even more powerful, he helped bridge the civil rights movement and the disability rights movement—showing that justice must include everyone.

Because of leaders like Brad Lomax, progress was made that later helped lead to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)—protections that still impact our children, families, and communities today. If your child has ever benefited from an accessible school, public transportation, or disability rights laws, you have him to thank.

At Browns Ferry Community Outreach, we honor Black leaders who fought not only for themselves, but for future generations.
Be the change! Be the difference!

🖤✊🏾

God I Thank You!!!

Receiving our end-of-year report showing that we assisted 1,900 clients is a powerful reminder that partnership and community collaboration truly make a difference. Through our partnerships with USC Upstate CHAI program, Triple P of South Carolina, SC Thrive, local community organizations, and the residents we proudly serve, we continue to expand our reach and impact. Numbers will always reflect the work, dedication, and commitment poured into strengthening our community. We are grateful for every partnership and every life touched as we continue this mission together
