On World Mental Health Day my mind is on my friends in the hospitality industry. These pros pour their hearts, souls, blood, sweat and tears into taking care of their guests. They work long hours. They wear many hats and are always at your service. With a smile. And now those who are still fortunate enough to have jobs are doing it during a pandemic, when few are flying, dining out or meeting at all. On a good day, these are among the most stressful jobs out there. These are not good days for the hospitality industry. It’s okay not to be okay. Be gentle with yourselves. Pay attention to your mental health and practice self care. Even if that means just taking a moment to give yourself credit for making it through the day. Find time to relax, to play, to connect with your people! We need you to take care of yourselves because when we get through this, we are all coming your way!!
