In this video, Regional Operations Lead Nageswari Krishnasamy shares what sheโ€™s seen on the ground in Malaysia about what makes treatment access programs work for patients long term.

For Nageswari, it comes down to three essentials:

1๏ธโƒฃ Sustainable affordability solutions that help the patient complete their course of treatment, not just a few boxes
2๏ธโƒฃ Consistent, one-on-one patient engagement
3๏ธโƒฃ Deep collaboration with local healthcare stakeholders

These arenโ€™t abstract principles. Theyโ€™re lessons shaped by real patients and providers.

We usually think about access as: price, supply chains, providers, policies.
But environmental conditions quietly determine whether any of that can work.

๐Ÿš‘ Roads, climate, and geography decide if medicines can physically reach people.
๐Ÿ’ง Clean water and sanitation determine whether treatment even works.
๐ŸŒƒ Air quality and pollution increase disease burden and strain health systems.
โšก๏ธ Reliable energy is essential for modern medicine.

That is why in 2025, Axios International disclosed its environmental practices in the CDP, the world's most rigorous and widely trusted frameworks for assessing environmental transparency, risk management, and governance. As part of our commitment to access, itโ€™s important that we also minimize our environmental impact and be held accountable for doing so.

Like if you agree: Cancer isn't just hard. It's deeply personal. Everyone experiences it differently. That's why we don't just need access. We need access that works for people.

We manage 100+ cancer treatment access programs worldwide. The truth: many standard healthcare financing and access models are failing patients.

Incredible specialized treatments exist today. But patients can't wait for traditional models to catch up.

Healthcare stakeholders must embrace innovative, sustainable access solutions now.

Our mission: lead a new generation of cancer access that puts people first.

Historically, Qatarโ€™s healthcare system has been characterized by comprehensive public coverage, including for oncology and other high-impact disease areas. As the country prepares for significant changes to its healthcare coverage model, Axios will convene a senior-level discussion at the ISPOR UAE Chapter Conference to explore how the transition may reshape access.

This Masterclass featuring Axiosโ€™ Dr. Anas Nofal will examine what this transition means in practice for manufacturers, providers, policymakers, and patients โ€” and how to prepare โ€” drawing on our experience designing sustainable access solutions across diverse health systems.

At Axios, designing effective access programs starts with understanding the patient and the realities surrounding their treatment journey.

In a new article published in the Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research, our team examined how Lebanonโ€™s economic crisis has affected cancer patientsโ€™ access to care and survival.

The findings reinforce something we see every day. Factors outside the disease itself, including poverty, timing of treatment, and health system capacity, can significantly influence outcomes.

The lesson is clear. Factors beyond the disease matter, and data helps us anticipate barriers and design more responsive access solutions that lead to better outcomes for patients.

2016 โž 2026

What a difference 10 years makes.

In 2016, the Axios International team was small enough to gather under one roof for a team-building event in Italy: a snapshot of an important moment in our journey. Our work across MENA and Asia was gaining momentum, we were shaping early thinking on what sustainable access solutions could look like, and new opportunities were beginning to emerge in Latin America.

Fast forward ten years, and our team has grown nearly tenfold. Today, weโ€™re supporting patient access to healthcare across 23 countries, alongside clients and partners who have grown with us and who increasingly place access at the center from day one.

Weโ€™re proud of how far weโ€™ve come, and grateful for the team that has built this journey.

As Sarojini Narkiran, Regional Operations Lead, explains, itโ€™s not only about making medicines available. Itโ€™s about helping patients stay on treatment.

With rising rates of chronic and even rare diseases, patients need:

โ€ข Innovative treatment affordability models
โ€ข Ongoing treatment support
โ€ข Education and tools that fit into real daily life
