Exciting News for Nurse Practitioners and Patients!

As of 1 November 2024, Collaborative Arrangements will no longer be required for Medicare and PBS entitlements.

This is a significant step forward for Nurse Practitioners and patients alike. It will reduce administrative burdens for NPs and improve patient access to affordable healthcare.

Key points to remember:

➡️ No change to clinical practice, prescribing rights, or collaborative patient care.
➡️ Pelvic ultrasounds will be added to the diagnostic tests NPs can request under the MBS.

We are coming into our own as an independent profession. A shift that started in the 80’s with the introduction of degree’s is now 40 years later starting to arrive at the intended goal.
So proud to be a nurse and a Nurse Practitioner

ACNP is celebrating as the Bill to Remove Collaborative Arrangements for Nurses and Midwives has just passed this evening in the Senate!

So what does this mean?

Now that the Bill has passed both Houses, it goes to the Governor General for Royal Assent, the final step.

Collaborative Arrangements will then cease on 1st November 2024

This is a major achievement, and would not have happened without the tireless and relentless advocacy of many of our members and leadership team. There was outstanding support for the Bill, and for the work of nurse practitioners and midwives during discussion and debate in both houses, and that is testament to our hard work as a profession.
