When pain or emotions are triggered we are faced with 2 choices:

1. Retreat
2. Progress

Retreating can take on different forms but is an attempt to feel safe when triggered. It’s hard wired in your survival response.

➡️ Seeking CONTROL when triggered in ourselves or the people around us in order to protect and create safety.
➡️ Retreat can also look like coping stress activities- mindless IG scrolling, checking phone, drinking, overeating.

🧠PROGRESS requires going inward to create safety.

➡️ Breaking the cycle of living trigger to trigger.
➡️Each signal or trigger is an invitation to heal our unregulated/ unresolved parts.

🌈Awareness is the first step, the second step is making a choice.

Which one do you feel the most, did I miss any?

The last one was HUGE for me..my bestie nicknamed me “Harmonious Helen”.
➡️ I hope I still sprinkle harmony everywhere I go, but from a position of wanting to and NOT NEEDING to.

😔 Appeasing and needing to fix situations, surrounding and problems is a STATE OF STRESS because you literally cannot take on any more stress you try to keep things “good”. AKA ( the perfect condition)

🤰🏽The Whole Foods story is a real patient story, ugh the worst looking..feeling pregnant and then ruminating about the awkwardness of the congratulations.

Love finding and unraveling inner workings to heal and prevent pain from reoccurring.

Stepping out of this trap is such a BIG one.

🧠 Our inner narrator guides us to keep us safe, but sometimes, it can keep us stuck in a loop of pain and chaos.

I’ll feel better when:

….I am financially secure
…in a better relationship
…have more time

When we give those stories too much power you repeat the same cycle over and over again.❤️‍🩹

… keeps the inflammation faucet open showing up in different systems.

🤯 so wild!

Just a reminder to cherish all the moments as you reflect and move forward into 2024.

When you are healing there are many moments you might not see in pictures or reels. Quieter moments of struggle, doctors appointments and deep digging to figure out what your brain and body need. But within those moments you grew, you are stronger and you are better equipped for the year to come.

Small choices going toward the direction of your goals will last longer than any temporary New Year resolutions.

1. If you are in the process of healing, understanding how this works can help when your nervous system is vulnerable. If you are around dysregulated people that environment can ramp up your stress center.

Being able to process through a full stress cycle is the ability for you to get the stress out of your body on a daily basis.

Pain is your protector but is it working too hard to get your attention?

Understanding pain can decrease pain more than any level of drug out there🤯⁣

✔️It’s true- the highest level of research shows pain DECREASES when we understand the brain, why it sends pain signals and what we can do about it⁣

👉 getting out of pain cycles is possible when knowing how different things ramp it up or can calm it down.

Making friends with understanding the brain body connection can get positive flow and start the healing process.
