The beauty of taking a break...

I've been set-net fishing this summer and having too much fun! Taking this little yoga break has allowed me to observe my body in a different setting and to appreciate all yoga brings to my life.

I'll be back at it soon enough!

Everything in moderation, including moderation.

Pincha Mayurasana

A pose I've been exploring for a number of years and then, suddenly, the balance clicks and the body makes sense of the inversion.

Wherever you go, there you are.

I can find myself running.
Trying to distract away from
anxiety, stress, fear, decisions.
Minimizing the present moment
makes me feel small and more
out of control,
and the cycle deepens.

And always, at the end of the day,
wherever I go, there I am again.

I can become burdened
by what I carry
and forget that I am carried
by everything else that makes up my whole me.
Purpose, happiness,
compassion, dreams.
I am not just that which is heavy,
I am also that which is light.

Connecting to my
Embodied Self involves
breathing into the moment,
feeling into feelings,
noticing my observations and reactions,
and connecting my
mental triggers
with physical responses.

So instead of running
distractedly away,
I sink further into acceptance
and find clarity in myself.

Wherever I go, there I am, again!

And I find comfort.

Just for today, do not worry.
Just for today, do not anger.
Just for today, be humble.
Just for today, be honest.
Just for today, be compassionate toward yourself and others.

These are the 5 Principles that can help bring Reiki into our everyday lives.

Cultivating presence with kindness and compassion allows our natural flow of happiness and health to radiate from us affecting everyone around us.

Reiki is a calming and restorative gentle-touch bodywork. Often leaving people with a sense of clarity and rejuvenation!

Reach out today to set up a session in Homer, or a virtual workshop on Reiki self-care to bring this healing practice into your home.

Rest brings restoration and rejuvenation, but it's never that easy is it?

To rest is to calm and quiet the mind, to thrive in stillness, and ground yourself in the present moment.

I remember a friend I invited to a restorative class, afterwards she remarked "Don't you want to lead the more challenging classes?"

How easy is it really to check-out in order to check-in with yourself? This practice requires cultivation of awareness and equanimity of thoughts and sensations arising in the body. This practice requires presence, presence, presence.

My restorative practice has dramatically deepened over the last year of intentional focus. Sinking the body, softening the mind, expanding with gratitude are tools not often explored by our hustle and bustle world.

If you're just beginning a restorative intention in yoga, blocks, pillows, and straps are your best friend. These supports allow for your muscles to truly relax as the mind follows. Start with simple heart openers to expand the consciousness deeper into the body. Watch and wait, listen for what comes and observe. Allow whatever flows to flow, letting go of what doesn't serve you.
