Itchy eyes? Constant sneezing? Congestion and brain fog? If you suffer from seasonal allergies, there is a better solution than having to pop anti-histamines non-stop from now until summer!

SLIT, sublingual immunotherapy, is a convenient, easy to take therapy that helps educate your immune system to not go haywire every time those blossoms go on display. SLIT is an odorless and tasteless liquid that you take by mouth that slowly exposes your body to small amounts of allergens in order to increase tolerance. Patients typically experience a 50 - 80% improvement in their hay fever with this treatment!

If you’re ready to kick your seasonal allergies, book in for a consult through my bio link above👆🏼

Our breath is one of our most powerful tools for calming the nervous system. Breathe intentionally - inhale deep into your abdomen, feeling your lower ribs expand out, and letting the exhale gently deflate everything. One of the biggest nerves, the vagus nerve, runs from the brain down through our diaphragm to our gut, and the action of taking deep breaths, drawing the diaphragm down, massages this nerve and immediately sends soothing signals up to the brain. Deep belly breaths puts us in a “rest and digest” mode and is ones of the fastest ways of calming us down from a stressful situation.
Inhale… Exhale… repeat.

Most of us have learned to reserve our highest expectations for ourselves. But perfection is unattainable. Let me repeat that, for you and just as much for myself, perfection is unattainable. It is a goalpost that we move to always just beyond our own reach. I believe that we all strive do our best day in and day out. Be soft with yourself. Let yourself know that you are enough and that what you do is enough. Repeat it often to slowly build up that background chorus of loving self-acceptance.

Self-care gets brandished about so often, especially in the holistic health realm, that it can now mean almost anything. Getting dressed every day even if it's WFH? Maybe. Taking a time-out from daily stressors? Yes. Morning yoga and meditation hour? For sure. Booking yourself in for a massage appointment? Definitely.

There is no right or wrong way to practice self-care, but something that I've noticed more and more with patients is that the term conjures up feelings of anxiety, guilt, and shame. Self-care has become a list of "shoulds" and we often end up feeling like rather than facilitating the rest of our lives, our self-care practices are yet another thing we can't seem to get done. In an attempt to nourish ourselves, we've managed to create another perceived failure.

I want to help us re-write what it means to self-care. Watch this space over the next few days for more posts on attainable, truly restorative self-care tips. Let's reclaim this term and make it work for us here and now.
