Balasana (Child’s Pose)

I come to this shape every day. I’ve always loved being close to the ground…. It’s so grounding!

The gentle compression of the abdomen and chest, combined with slow, calm breathing, sends signals to the body that encourage relaxation, lower heart rate, and reduced stress—classic “rest and digest” effects of the parasympathetic system.

We can use these postures as daily tools to come back to balance, not just in class.

The science of getting outside!!

When you walk, especially in daylight, your brain gets flooded with signals that reset your internal clock, balance cortisol, and boost dopamine — all helping you feel alert, calm, and focused.

Neuroscientist (who’s great and unpacks the science behind so many interesting human aspects) explains that morning sunlight on your eyes triggers serotonin release (your mood stabiliser) and sets the timer for melatonin (your sleep hormone) to kick in later. Combine that with gentle movement, and you’ve just told your nervous system: you’re safe, you can breathe. 🧘

If you suffer with ptsd, anxiety, depression, moving and getting outside is a crucial component of healing. The rhythm of your steps and the light in your eyes literally rewire your circadian and emotional systems.

So if you do one thing for your nervous system today — walk outside for 10 minutes, no sunglasses, before 10 a.m. Even in the rain!!! ☔️ ®️

It was a pleasure to attend this event the other week, hosted by who was brilliant.

Bessels work in the field of trauma has brought to light the importance of somatic methods, community and connection in healing from trauma. Elements that are arguably not present in the Western medical system. 😕 The ‘third pillar’ of healing include methods such as yoga, somatic therapies, , acupuncture, dance therapy ….etc are JUST as important to heal! Trauma is an epidemic that causes so many illnesses ….. So let’s explore other methods, connect to the energy of being human, talk to others. The drugs will just mask what really needs healing ❤️

🌿 Experience Havening – Free Case Study Opportunity 🌿

I’m looking for people to join a short Havening case study (3 sessions each for FREE) to explore the gentle, science-backed technique of emotional healing.

Havening is a gentle touch-based practice that helps your brain release the emotional charge of past experiences. It works with your nervous system to help you feel safer, calmer, and more resilient — without reliving the trauma.

💫 What Havening Can Help With

Releasing the emotional impact of trauma and distressing memories

Calming anxiety, panic, or overwhelm

Supporting recovery from PTSD and phobias

Easing feelings of shame, guilt, or low self-worth

Reducing stress and improving emotional regulation

Letting go of stuck patterns connected to past experiences

Building resilience and a stronger sense of inner calm

Supporting better sleep and relaxation

☀️ Healing, for me, looks like this — being able to sit in the sun and feel joy in my body in the present moment.

Trauma can shut us off from moments like these.
But it can also cultivate deep compassion for others and appreciation for many other things we once took for granted.

Practices like yoga can help us to feel safe in our body again, when that happens we can start to let the light in 😎😍🙏

What does healing look like for you? 💛

A much needed holiday! 🛫🏝️

A break away is invaluable, it always gives me new perspective & insight returning back to the mat and my students and clients.

Wonderful food, ocean swimming , dive bombs, foam parties, card games and more food 😂

Are you suffering from the effects of c/ptsd? Somatic disassociation? Feeling numb and disconnected from your body? In a cycle of anxiousness?

Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga is a CLINICALLY PROVEN (yes, there's scientific evidence!) body- based method that can help to heal trauma JUST as effectively as the gold standard therapies like CBT. 🥳🥳🥳

Many of you may have heard of Bessel Van Der Kolk's book 'The Body Keeps The Score'.

👉Bessel worked directly with the founders of the TCTSY method, to help survivors of trauma suffering with PTSD, reconnect with their bodies in a safe and healthy way. Leading to many positive outcomes; empowerment, embodiment, better physical and mental health.

👉This yoga based practice (and yes you can be a total beginner for this!) is suitable for ANYONE wanting to heal holistically, with talk therapy and a body based therapy.

Trauma is held in the body, so to release it, we must do so also through the body.

We have several funded places available for my course starting:

🌱Thursday 18th September for 10- weeks
🌱5.30-6.30pm
🌱At The Secret Space, Hertford

You might have experienced:

👉 Sexual Violence
👉 Domestic Abuse
👉 Emotional Abuse
👉 Chronic emotional neglect
👉 Any type of childhood trauma

If you're still suffering please contact me to learn more about this practice and how it can help you:

Why use yoga practice help release physical senstations of trauma?

Sometimes, talking therapy isn't enough. Trauma can be held in the body and it's only by bringing awareness to our bodies, that we can start to release it and find our way back to wholeness.

🌱 Using these cues actives the interocpetive pathways in the brain- crucial for healing trauma- by building awareness of internal sensation (not just the external form). Helping to rewire your nervous system for safety.

🐦If you like, try a seated forward fold or supported butterfly (feet together, knees apart and resting on bolsters or pillows).Keeping your spine tall, and allow the release to happen from the inside out, like an 'uncoiling'.

Approaching movement and forms in this way, opens up a dialogue with your body, rather than demands, pushing or forcing.

Remember, the body keeps the score so let's listen to what it's saying. 🙏
