I am a Master of Social Work, recently graduating from Western New Mexico University with a certificate in Rural Community Social Work Services. I maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my program and am a member of the Phi Alpha National Honor Society Zeta Rho Chapter for Social Work, and the National Association of Social Workers. It is my goal to become a Licensed Master of Social Work in New Mexico and start my career as a therapist and social work entrepreneur. In 2018, I made the decision to return to school after spending three years working in mental health services and nearly a decade as a volunteer with the Huntington's Disease Society of America, engaging in advocacy, education, and fundraising events. My concentration when volunteering with HDSA was enhancing youth support services for children, teens, and young adults impacted by Huntington's disease. I was awarded the HDSA Youth Award, and later the Woody Guthrie Advocacy Award.
I am currently working as a Community Support Worker with a non-profit community mental health clinic. I provide comprehensive community support services for individuals and families impacted by severe mental illness, severe emotional disturbances, and substance use disorders. My role is to support their self-determination while assisting them with their independent functioning, education, employment, socialization, and recreation.
