My first voluntary work on health in a community was done when I was still in school in my final year it was an amazing experience with my team we did a great job on health promotion, and disease prevention to mental health and well-being of individuals in the community it was an amazing field experience.

One of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had was volunteering for a health campaign aimed at promoting better health practices within our local community. The initiative focused on educating people about preventive health measures, such as maintaining a balanced diet, staying active, and understanding the importance of regular medical check-ups.

As a volunteer, I was involved in organizing workshops and awareness sessions in local schools, community centers, and at public events. We collaborated with local healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, who provided valuable insights into various health issues prevalent in the community, such as hypertension, diabetes, and mental health concerns.

One of the key tasks I took on was conducting basic health screenings for community members. This included checking vital signs like blood pressure, pulse rate, and blood glucose levels. These screenings were essential in identifying individuals who might be at risk for certain conditions but were unaware of their health status. We also offered guidance on lifestyle changes that could help prevent or manage these conditions.

Another aspect of the work was spreading awareness about the importance of mental health. I helped organize group discussions and led sessions where we talked about stress management, recognizing signs of mental health issues, and where to seek professional help if needed.

Throughout the experience, I realized the importance of community outreach and education in empowering people to take control of their health. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, with many individuals expressing gratitude for the knowledge they gained and the opportunity to have their health checked. It was fulfilling to know that our efforts had a direct impact on improving the overall well-being of those we served.

Overall, this experience not only deepened my understanding of public health issues but also reinforced the importance of community engagement in creating healthier environments. I left the project feeling more connected to my community and motivated to continue supporting health initiatives in the future.

Come Let Talk About Anxiety
Have you ever feel your heart race for no reason
Just like your mind won't stop working
Your body system alarm is met to protect you, but sometimes it gets stuck in over drive.

Sometimes it feels the world is too heavy. your mind races, your chest
tightens, and no matter how hard you try you just can't seem to breathe freely.
That's anxiety.

And it's okay to admit that you're struggling.
You are not weak.
You are not broken.
You are human.

Anxiety doesn't define you.
It's just one part of your story not the whole thing.
There is help.
There is hope.
And there are people who care
even when it doesn't feel that way
Talk to someone

A friend
A family member
A professional therapist
A counselor
You don't have to face this this alone

Take a breath
You've made it through every hard day so far and that's something to be proud of just one step at a time you've got this
You are not alone.

Let normalize talking about mental health together.
