Mamas, let’s talk ✨ Postpartum ✨
As you join this parents club (for the first time or not), postpartum also called the ‘fourth trimester’ is filled with joy having your new baby in your arms but it can be overwhelming, stressful and scary. It is considered to be six weeks but can last (muuuch) longer! Here are my 5 tips to navigate through this journey:
💤~ Rest as much as possible ~ easier said than done, I get it mama! 😅 but you do have to rest to be able to care for your newborn baby.
💦 ~ Stay hydrated ~ regardless if you’re breastfeeding or not. Postpartum bowel movements hit differently 😬 not trying to scare anyone, but hey, can you tell I’m speaking from experience? 🙃
🥗 ~ Eat a healthy diet ~ I can already hear y’all ask “who has time to cook while caring for a newborn + taking care of yourself + household + this + that?!” It’s so important to try at least, to help your body heal! While it’s not an easy task, this is why I always advise to meal prep during pregnancy and put in the freezer. It will save you lot of time and energy mama!
❤️🩹 ~ Take care of your mental health ~ having a baby is wonderful, it can also take a toll on your mental health. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your midwife, doula, OB or therapist for advice which will take me to my 5th tip…
🫂 ~ … Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Either if you have family, friends, neighbors… it does take a village to raise a child! If you can, this is why having a postpartum doula (wink wink 😉 it’s me, hi!) is so helpful. You don’t need to do this alone mama, I’m here for you 💖
