Our Bohio in Samaná

There are no words to describe how invaluable it is to have a place called home. For many of us who were brought up as “Diaspora” have a different relationship and concept of our roots and culture. We are always somewhere between longing and searching and that isn’t very grounding.

Finding and landing in a home has confirmed simply by the amount of visitors and kind words shared, that healing is equally connected to returning to the origin. Similar to our ancestors — we are safe to return.

Embracing our story, so do we leave a legacy for the future and present generations. They will say that “we still have healing homes - look!” and be able to go visit el Bohío. Share language, food and song as healing together.

This is a pivotal time for the island and for us to stand strong in sharing ancestral medicines — being in community.

Summer Solstice at Cura Bohio

A thank you to the community who made it possible from near and the heart.

From the beginning healing has been about tending to relations. A bohio / home to do it on allows us to continue welcoming visitors, members and folks seeking healing.

Together we prayed for our nation, ancestry and all those who seek justice and liberation. May we continue to find the strength and open our hearts to our earths ways with a new cycle, travels and pathways opening for us.

We give thanks for every season and cycle for its teaching in navigating our earth walk. We have been shown through place and space what it means to be and move as an interconnected living culture. We have walked a cycle and will start another of clarity as the fruits have harvested.

As we honor the days in community here on the island, we hold the prayer for the collective too. May all beings return to this way of living where peace and resilience is met in unison.

No matter whether we believe that man's intake of hallucinogens in primitive or sophisticated societies constitutes use, misuse, or abuse, hallucinogenic plants have undeniably played an extensive role in human culture and probably shall continue to do so. It follows that a clear understanding of these physically and
socially potent agents should be a part of man's general education.
