SOMATIC ‘PARTS’ TRAUMA THERAPY
A rare evening weekly therapy slot has become available for a new client on Tuesday evenings at 6pm.
I am TIST trauma Certified and also have training in IFS and Somatic Experiencing as well as 30 years experience in working with people.
So what is parts work?
When we are young children and we experience BIG and painful feelings (grief, terror, abandonment, not good enough to name a few)- if we can fully express them and have them safely heard and held they move through us.
If we can’t fully express them they get shut away inside. They are locked away and we don’t want to feel them because it’s scary. They become ‘pain parts,’ young child parts of us who are holding onto that unexpressed pain.
As we grow, in order to keep us away from the pain parts, we develop ‘protector parts,’ which manifest as behaviours which help us to survive in the world. Some examples of these might be people pleasing, inner critic or an inability to trust. There are many more!
Through Somatic Parts Therapy you will get to know these inner child parts of yourself and gradually begin to integrate them into yourself through inner dialogue and Somatic work. It’s a journey to a sense of wholeness you might never have experienced before.
It’s not easy. It’s a journey that requires courage and commitment. But a fuller Life awaits you.
