I just completed my first session of the Omnivore’s Ayurvedic Cooking Club hosted by . In Sunday’s session we fixed a cooling lemongrass chai, zucchini soup and apricot energy bars. Great suggestions to help in these hot days of summer.

This month’s recipes also included lemon cardamom blueberry muffins and saffron chicken & rice. Included some pictures of what we created from these recipes.

Typically in Ayurveda we avoid naps because it can be one of the causes of disease. However, summer is the exception. Agni is at its weakest and is being displaced from our core outward as our body tries to cool itself. The longer days can also mean less sleep as we follow the natural patterns of the sun. Naps are a nice way to recharge. Best to take them for no more than 20-minutes, before 3 PM while laying on your left side.
