The City of Miramichi wants to hear from the community and needs your input in helping shape the future of our parks and outdoor recreation facilities. With your input, we can provide a high quality of life for residents, future residents, and visitors to Miramichi.

We encourage you to complete the online survey and leave your ideas on the online forum. For access to the survey and forum, or for more information about the Outdoor Parks and Recreation Master Plan, please visit the following link:

Thanks for sharing our little project!

Kelly Matchett was the speaker at our regular meeting today. She is the founder of the non profit SAM’S Team, a local volunteer organization that raises funds to help people access private mental health counselling. SAM’S is named after her father Sam Matchett Jr and stands for “support for addictions and mental health services”. Today she spoke about the Yellow Button campaign, which raises donations in a similar manner to the Poppy fund, with citizens wearing a yellow button to show their support for mental health. The first campaign was this past Mar-Apr and she is hoping to expand on it in 2022. The program works with local qualified counsellors, and more information is available on their website or page about donating funds and volunteering time. Thank you Kelly for this important community initiative.

Don’t forget to donate, get your yellow button and wear it proud🟡💛 Share around as well, tell your friends, family and anyone else you can reach! The proceeds go to SAM’S TEAM, which is a Miramichi based non-profit that works to make mental health care more accessible and help to break stigmas surrounding mental health! We will have a donation bin here for a two week period which ends April.15th/2021!
Mental health is so important and being open about what you go through can help so many others! If you don’t know much about mental health or don’t suffer from it, show your support! You never know what people go through daily, be kind and caring. Spread some extra love, kindness and positivity around. You never know who you are helping by supporting and sharing!
