Husband asks wife "Why do you cut off 2 sides of the pork, before putting it in the oven to roast?"
The wife thinks about it and replies "I don't know. I cut it off because that's how my mum prepared her roast pork."
The husband is curious, so he calls his mother-in-law and asks her the same question "Why do you cut off 2 sides of the pork, before putting it in the oven to roast?"
The mother-in-law thinks about it and replies with the exact same answer "I don't know. I cut it off because that's how my mum prepared her roast pork."
The husband is now very curious, so he calls grandma-in-law: "Your daughter and granddaughter both cut off 2 sides of pork before they put it in the oven to roast. They said they learnt it from you. Why do they do that?"
Grandma-in-law is puzzled. "I don't know why they would do that, they both have large ovens. I used to cut off 2 sides of the pork because my oven was too small!"
When I walked into the kitchen this morning, I saw 2 ends of a bun cut off and left on the chopping table (photo attached). Thanks to this story, I immediately deduced that my wife had made a hotdog for my daughter and cut off the 2 ends of the bun so that it could fit in her lunchbox. Hopefully my daughter doesn't cut off the 2 ends of the bun everytime she makes a hotdog!
What habits or patterns have you adopted from your parents which actually don't make sense when you think about it?
