Another awesome group of expectant couples completed our 3 week program tonight! So much transformation in their relationships with each other and how prepared they feel for a gentle, natural birth! I am so grateful and touched to be a part of these babies' lives!

Baby Jan turned 1! Already? Just felt like he and his mommy and daddy were in class! Mark Elliot and Ewa Elliot had an amazing birth experience! So honored to be a part if it. Big hugs!

The Japanese midwives have a saying about labor pain; they call it “metamorphic”. They say that going through labor is a metamorphosis because it changes the woman into a mother the way that crawling out of the cocoon changes the caterpillar into a butterfly. They adhere to an old story that states if you help the caterpillar out of its cocoon it will die. It has to emerge by itself in order to survive and to be strong.

In class I talk about how the beautiful design and plan of pregnancy & birth - how mother & baby's body grows and develops, each finger, toe grows on it's own. Wouldn't it make sense that the body has a plan to get the baby out? I love how the butterfly needs to work it's way out of the coccon to thrive. Found the Japanese info beautiful!
