If you feel tight all the time… this might surprise you 👇

Most people think they need to stretch more.
Hamstrings, hips, shoulders… stretch, stretch, stretch.

But what if the problem isn’t flexibility?

👉 The missing piece in your mobility might be your breathing.

Yep.

If you’re a “chest breather” (most people are), your ribs lift, your core doesn’t engage properly, and your body starts compensating.

That can show up as:
• tight hips
• a sore low back
• stiff shoulders

So you stretch… but nothing really changes.

At Ascend, we see this ALL the time.
When we help clients improve how they breathe and position their body, things start to feel better—without adding more stretching.

Want to try something simple?

Lie on your back with your feet on a chair.
Inhale through your nose → feel your ribs expand (not your chest lifting).
Exhale slowly → let your ribs drop down.
Repeat for 5–6 breaths.

Small shift. Big difference.

Cupid showed up at Ascend this weekend ❤️

We kicked off Saturday morning with Cupid’s Cardio, partner-style, led by the one and only Marc.

Hearts were pumping.
High fives were flying.
And the Food Bank got some love too 🥫

But the real highlight?

At the end of the workout, Marc informed us what our relationship status would be based on how far we made it through the stations.

14 = just friends.
16 = friends with benefits.
Make it to the end… well… things escalated quickly 😅

Nothing like shared suffering to define commitment.

Huge shoutout to everyone who came out, laughed hard, moved their bodies, and helped support our community.

Fitness should build strength and connection.
Mission accomplished ❤️

We’re officially in the middle of our Ascend Olympics 🏅

You’ve probably noticed a few fun challenges popping up in the studio:

➡️ 500-metre row
➡️ Wall sit
➡️ Push-ups
➡️ Plank
➡️ Dead hang

Participation is totally optional — no pressure at all.

This is simply a fun way to challenge yourself (or not 😄) and bring a little playful energy into your training this month.

You’re only competing against you.

Try one event or all of them.
Improve over the month.
Track your personal best on the chalkboard.

Plenty of time to jump in 💪

We’re often told “the only person you should compete with is who you were yesterday.”
It sounds motivating. It gets head nods.

But it ignores context.

Yesterday-you might have had more time, fewer responsibilities, better sleep, or a different nervous system capacity. Competing with her isn’t always growth — sometimes it’s just pressure.

Progress looks like doing the best you can within the life you’re actually living — and setting goals that respect that.
