Did you know that non-surgical ACL rehab treatment is a viable option in many cases?

Pain ≠ Recovery 💪🏽

Many people are ready to give up or think they're not improving because they solely track PAIN during treatment.

It is important to not ONLY track pain, but to also track overall FUNCTION. This includes things like how much weight you're lifting or how far you can walk.

Think of it like this: On your first week of physiotherapy, you report a 7/10 pain when lifting 5kgs. After 2 weeks of physio you feel your pain is still 7/10, HOWEVER, you were able to lift 20kg.

Only tracking pain can make it seem like there's little to no improvements. Once we account for function, we start to notice this is not true.

This is why it is important to focus on your ACTIVITY levels along with pain. It is also very important to make sure your therapist is using relevant outcome measures to track function and explain your improvements to you.

Here are some exercises to try at home:

1️⃣ Standing Hamstring Stretch: Elevate your leg on a step or chair, lean forward, feel the gentle stretch in your hamstrings.

2️⃣ Supine Hamstring Stretch: Lie down, loop a towel or resistance band around your foot, and gently pull for a deep, restorative hamstring stretch.

3️⃣ Bridge with Leg Extension: Activate your glutes and core, then extend one leg to strengthen and stabilise your hamstrings.
