What is SHAPE?

The Sexual Health Awareness, (STI) Prevention, & Education Tri-County Initiative is a public health collaboration that provides community testing and resources to Lowcountry residents, medical professionals, and businesses.

MISSION

SHAPE’s vision is to empower individuals to make healthy decisions regarding their s*xual health for a community free of STIs.

Purpose of SHAPE

To reduce HIV and STI rates in the region, fostering through two workgroups focusing on clinical/surveillance and communications/marketing respectively.

Vision

SHAPE’s mission is to reduce STIs by providing access to education, treatment, and prevention resources for people of all ages in the greater Charleston community.

SHAPE Current mission and goals

· Establishing themselves as premiere collaborative advocates in HIV/STI testing and prevention

· Main organization planning Charleston Area World AIDS Day

· Increasing PrEP access, with an emphasis on reaching at-risk populations.

· Continuing to advocate for opt-out testing for HIV as well as making s*xual history-taking and HIV /STI testing part of routine care.

· Updating a list of referral sites for linkage to care and HIV/STI testing sites.

· Developing a website and using social media to more effectively share information.

· Working to eliminate the stigma associated with HIV.
