What is the difference between steel cut oats and rolled oats?

The primary difference between steel-cut oats and rolled oats lies in how they are processed. Here's a breakdown:

Oat Groats:
* All oats start as oat groats, which are the whole oat kernels with the inedible outer hull removed.

Steel-Cut Oats:

* These are the least processed. They are made by chopping the oat groats into smaller pieces using steel blades.
* This results in a coarser texture and a longer cooking time.
* They have a chewier, nuttier flavor.

Rolled Oats:
* These are made by steaming and then rolling the oat groats into flat flakes.
* This process makes them cook faster than steel-cut oats.
* They have a softer texture.

Processing:
* Steel-cut: Chopped.
* Rolled: Steamed and flattened.

Texture:
* Steel-cut: Chewy, coarse.

Your Health, Your Choice!

Every single day, you make choices that either move you closer to your health goals or further away. Functional nutrition isn’t about restriction—it’s about empowerment. It’s about understanding what your body needs and making the choice that supports your energy, your digestion, your sleep, and your overall well-being.

Tomorrow, I have a workshop that includes lunch. But since I don’t know what will be served or if it aligns with my nutrition goals, I’m making the choice to bring my own nourishing, homemade meal. I give myself permission to take control of my health—and that feels powerful.
