WHY MUDRAS CAN BE CONSIDERED POTENT EXERCISES FOR THE BRAIN. The little man in the brain', the homunculus, is a distorted representation of the human body. It is based on a neurological "map" of the areas and proportions of the human brain dedicated to processing motor functions, or sensory functions, for different parts of the body. Look at the proportion of the hands and fingers relative to the rest of the body. When you practice Mudras you engage and exercise large areas of your brain by activating specific neural pathways. I like to compare these pathways to a path leading to a beautiful, serene landscape. The more you walk it, the easier it will be to find that hidden sanctuary. The more you activate the neural pathways representing calm and focussed states, the easier you will access them in your day-to-day life.
Mudras are powerful self-help tools that can be used anywhere, at any time with no side effects other than becoming empowered, creative and resourceful caretakers of your health and well-being.
