Happy Sunday everyone!

I wanted to talk just a little bit more about the benefits of reactive training.

If you didn't see the post earlier this week, reactive training is training that focuses on the body's ability to adapt quickly to maintain equilibrium, posture, etc.

The benefits of reactive training can include greater strength in stabilizer muscles, quicker reaction time, a body that is better able to quickly react and adapt to maintain stability without sustaining injuries, and much more.

Let's take a look at one more example of reactive training, and think of ways that we can incorporate some of these practices into our routines to keep us safe and effective physically, long into the future.

From a programming perspective, activities that stimulate, challenge and engage both the body and the mind can be particularly beneficial. One approach to cr...

Hey there Fit Fam!

This week I want to shine a light on a concept called Reactive Training.

Anthony Carey, MA, CSCS, ACE-MES describes Reactive Training as follows:

Reactive training challenges the body to successfully respond to imposed stimuli with minimal or no conscious thought, with the fastest response time for the purpose of:

- Maintaining postural equilibrium
- Improving timing, coordination and force production
of muscular contractions
-Providing optimal joint stability

This training relies on and hones the sensory motor system to strengthen muscles and joints that respond to stimuli both consciously and unconsiously.

See the video below for an example of cognitive reactive training, and see how it can help to sharpen overall athletic training and performance, as well as sharpening the minds communications with the body.

From a programming perspective, activities that stimulate, challenge and engage both the body and the mind can be particularly beneficial. One approach to cr...

Typing up and filming workouts today!

The great thing about my at home workouts is that they are almost exclusively equipment-free, but easily adapted for those who have some equipment to add intensity. They also only take 20-30minutes to complete, so that they are easy to squeeze into the daily schedule.

If you’re interested in shifting your lifestyle and ending 2020 on a healthier note, join the challenge! Last day to sign up is Friday, Aug 28th!

Changing the narrative around our health includes changing the narrative around healthy eating.

Making healthy dietary changes has adopted a negative stigma of “missing out” or “giving up” certain foods. This makes us reluctant to make changes, or more prone to fall off the wagon when we do.

It’s important to remind ourselves that making healthy dietary changes is so much more about what we’re gaining than what we’re giving up.

Try focusing less on cutting out x, y, and z foods, and shift that focus into adding more nutrient-dense foods to your daily diet. You might just find yourself replacing some of the old go-to foods with more nutritious options and enjoying it!

It’s also important to remember that indulging ourselves once in a while doesn’t make us a failure, you didn’t ruin your diet because you slipped up and ate a whole sleeve of Oreos. As long as you are actively trying, you are succeeding.
