In those first few weeks, your newborn’s tummy is much smaller than most people realize (but it grows quickly)!
At birth, their tiny stomach is about the size of a cranberry, holding just 5-7mL of milk. By the end of the first month, it’s grown to the size of a small apple, ready to take in a few ounces at each feeding.🍎
This gentle progression is a beautiful reminder that early feeding is about frequent, mindful nourishment rather than volume. Trust your baby’s cues, offer the breast or bottle often, and know that their tummy and appetite will grow in harmony with them.
🍁 A gentle reminder: every baby’s rhythm is unique. Follow their lead and connect with your care team if you ever have questions about feeding or growth.
