New Community Fundraiser Launches in Hampton to Support Local Youth Through HCHKids 50/50
Hampton, NB – A new community-driven fundraising initiative is launching in the , NB area this spring, with a goal of supporting local youth and strengthening community connections through sport and positive opportunities.
Help the Cops Help the Kids (HCHKids), a local non-profit founded in 1979 by the Hampton RCMP in partnership with the Halifax Regional Police Force, is officially introducing the HCHKids 50/50, a weekly draw designed to raise funds for youth-focused causes while giving participants a chance to win big. Proceeds from the draw will directly support local youth sports organizations, helping ensure children in the Hampton area have access to programs that promote physical activity, teamwork, confidence, and belonging.
The HCHKids 50/50 builds on the spirit of past community fundraising efforts in the region, while launching as a fresh, locally focused initiative with a renewed commitment to helping kids thrive.
Each week, participants will be able to purchase 50/50 tickets, with half of the pot going to the winning ticket holder and the remaining proceeds supporting youth programming in the community. “HCHKids was created to bring the community together around a simple but powerful goal, helping local kids succeed,” said Janice Bates, President of HCHKids. “The HCHKids 50/50 is an opportunity for our community to come together, have fun, and make a real difference. Every ticket purchased helps create more opportunities for local youth to participate in sports, build confidence, and feel connected.”
The initiative is supported by community partners who recognize the value of investing in youth and grassroots programming.
"Growing up, sports played a huge role in my life. They taught me responsibility, teamwork, and friendship, and helped shape who I am today. I’ve had the privilege of being involved with HCHKids since its early days, when the annual charity hockey game between the RCMP and Halifax Police raised thousands of dollars to help local kids participate in sports they love. The new HCHKids 50/50 draw will continue that legacy by investing directly in our youth, giving them opportunities to build confidence, friendships, and lifelong skills. Supporting this initiative is truly an investment for the future of our youth in Hampton,” says Robert "Dewey" Doucet, Mayor of Hampton.
The HCHKids 50/50 will officially launch on April 16, 2026, with weekly draws to follow. Community members are encouraged to follow HCHKids on Facebook for updates, draw information, winner announcements, and stories highlighting the impact of funds raised.
