Let’s talk secondhand baby gear:
There’s a big difference between what I’ll happily snag on marketplace or at a garage sale….and what I’ll always buy new.

My rule: Save money where it’s safe to, and spend where it counts.

What about you?!

SIDS is one of those topics that every parent has heard of, but few actually understand. It’s not suffocation, it’s not choking, and it’s not something parents cause.

Every nap, every night:
✨ Baby on their back
✨ Firm, flat sleep surface
✨ Empty crib
✨ Room share, not bed share

Nothing makes my stomach drop faster than spotting a loose button battery. Tiny, shiny, and everywhere—yet one of the most dangerous things a child can swallow. It’s not “just a battery,” it’s an emergency. Parents don’t need another thing to fear, but this is one I’ll never ignore.

When we first bought our home, I was so overwhelmed by all the things we suddenly needed to know and do to keep it safe—especially with little kids running around. I thought I was doing the right thing by grabbing a couple of fire extinguishers, but it turns out…I had the wrong ones.

Comment KIDDIE and I’ll send you the link to my list.

It wasn’t until a friend reached out and corrected me that I realized how important it is to have the right extinguisher in the right place. Since then, I’ve learned so much from our local fire department (who have been amazing educators), and they specifically recommended Kiddie extinguishers for families.

Here in this post I shared the info they gave me on which fire extinguishers to have where.

If you’ve ever stared at those confusing codes on the label like I did—this post is for you. Save it for later so you know exactly what goes where! For reference— it’s recommended to have 1 in living space, 1 in kitchen, 1 in garage and 1 in master bedroom. A tool you never want to need but will want to have.

Drop your fire safety thoughts and tips 💬💬💬

Every family, every house, and every situation is different. There’s no such thing as a “one plan fits all” when it comes to fire safety.

👉 A one-story ranch (like mine) will have a very different escape plan than a two-story home.
👉 Families with infants or toddlers will plan differently than families with older kids.

I know it’s awful to think about— but I would rather have me be prepared than panic.
