‘Everyday is all we have’ 💛

When there’s always so much information to consume and obsess over and days can be spent worrying and comparing- I like to take myself over to Pinterest and read beautiful things that shift my perspective and tune me back into all the wonders and gifts of everyday living.

Because it truly is a gift to be alive right here and right now and have clothes on your back and food in the fridge and electricity and warmth and mountains to climb and animals to cuddle and music to listen to and the list goes on and on and on 🙏🏻 And it’s too easy to forget that and focus on the negatives.

Practicing gratitude and prioritising the habits and activities that make you feel grateful, excited, joyful, content or loved are powerful tonics for your mind and your nervous system AND a powerful way to ensure you’re living the happiest and most present life you can.

So please share some of things you’ve come across that has moved you, shifted your perspective or even just brought you joy ❤️ I’d love to hear them ❤️

🌿 Coming off the pill? Your body’s gonna need a little TLC.

Birth control can deplete key nutrients like B vitamins, magnesium, zinc, selenium, folate, vitamin A & C — all essential for hormone balance, energy, mood, and fertility and soooooo much more. This leads to symptoms while we’re on the pill and also symptoms when we come off it. And to make it worse- most of us have no idea that’s happening.

This is why prioritizing your intake of nutrients is so vital. Supporting healthy levels of these minerals and vitamins is what’s going to improve your hormone and overall health- whether you’re on the pill or not.

The first goal is to boost your levels naturally through food:

🥑 Magnesium → leafy greens, nuts, seeds, avocado
🥩 Zinc → meat, beans, lentils, whole grains
🌰 Selenium → Brazil nuts, eggs, seafood
🥦 Folate → leafy greens, beans, citrus, asparagus
🥕 Vitamin A → eggs, dairy, colorful veggies
🍊 Vitamin C → citrus, berries, peppers
🍳 B Vitamins → whole grains, eggs, fish, greens

Supplementing can also be extremely beneficial but needs to be person specific and in addition to a nutrient dense diet.

We also need to support our body’s detoxification systems to help get excess hormones and synthetics out of the body. We can do that through; pooping regularly, hydrating, supporting liver and kidney health by reducing caffeine and alcohol and working on stress management.

Coming off the pill is more than just stopping a medication — it’s your body waking up again. 💛

Your hormones start talking, your natural rhythm returns, and yes… sometimes that comes with a few bumps along the way — breakouts, mood changes, irregular cycles. But I’m here to tell you that this isn’t your body betraying you or a sign you need to go back on the pill. This is just your body recalibrating.

This phase takes patience, care and compassion. Your body is re-learning how to communicate, ovulate, and find balance again. And that doesn’t happen overnight — it happens overtime and with the right support.

Here’s what helps:

🥦 Nourish yourself with real, nutrient-dense foods. Proteins and healthy fats are what make your hormones, so make sure to load up on these!

😌 Manage stress so your body feels safe to rebalance. A safe body equals healthy hormones. Reduce caffeine, get some sunlight exposure and balance your blood sugar.

🚰 Stay hydrated + support your liver and gut. Your liver gets rid of excess and synthetic hormones so make sure you’re eating lots of fibre and pooping everyday.

🩸 Track your cycle to see your progress over time. Tracking gives you data and data is how you get to know your body and it’s unique patterns.

And remember: healing isn’t linear, but your body is smart as hell and is always working towards keeping you healthy and thriving. It just needs some help and understanding along the way.

Save this post to come back to when the process feels slow and you’re feeling deflated or frustrated — your body just needs time, and you’re doing beautifully. 🤍

It’s been a while but this last season of life has been BUSY- in all the good ways 🥰 So just thought I’d share some bits and pieces:

1.) Got married in South Africa 🥰
2.) Before that had the best, funnest girls weekend for my bachelorette 👰🏼‍♀️
3.) Went on a family trip after the wedding to the bush ( and then had the gnarliest stomach bug- but there’s no photos of that- you’re welcome)
4 and 5.) Flew back to Scotland and was reunited with my babies 🐱🐱
6.) Walks in nature and gearing up for all the autumn splendour
7.) Eased back into training after a good 3 weeks off
8.) Had a UK wedding celebration with family and friends ❤️
9.) More walks- I’ve been really craving being in nature recently and think my nervous system is needing some rest and slowness
10.) Found these gems on Vinted. Ina May Gaskin is someone I recommend pretty much all women read but especially those trying to conceive, pregnant or new mamas 🙏🏻
11.) Getting back into my mourning and other routines. It’s easy to forget but they really do make me feel so good 🌞

Nature is medicine 🍄

We all know being in nature is good for us but sometimes the actual science behind it can be extra motivation to go out and enjoy it 🌳

Did you know that plants and trees produce compounds called terpenes that have physiological impacts on our body?

Depending on which ones you’re around, they can be anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, neuroprotective, anti- tumorigenic and can boost your immune system.

This means walks in nature can literally be healing, restorative and act as a form of preventative medicine!

Pure essential oils also contain terpenes and can be a great way to incorporate these healing properties in your home 🌿They can be used in diffusers, baths, tinctures and neat to help support your health and wellbeing.

So count this as another reason to get up and outside! We have all we need out there to keep us happy and healthy 🙏🏻

💡 Struggling with heavy periods, bloating, breast tenderness, or mood swings? These can all be signs of estrogen dominance — when estrogen outweighs progesterone. 🌸

The good news? Simple shifts in stress, gut, liver, and lifestyle support can help bring your hormones back into balance.

You can start TODAY with some of these strategies and habits:

- move your body everyday (walks, stretching, exercise)
- sweat everyday (exercise, sauna, baths etc)
- swap out plastic tupperware and bottles for glass and stainless steel
- increase fibre rich foods to support estrogen clearance (veggies, flax/chia/pumpkin seeds)
- increase cruciferous veggies( cauliflower/brocolli/cabbage)
- support lymphatic drainage through massage, rebounding, calf raises etc
- manage stress levels (nature breaks, moving your body, meditation, journalling)
- be mindful of ingredients in make-up and skincare products

Truly, the small, everyday things we do will have the biggest impact for our hormones💕

To all my gals in their Luteal Phase — you’re doing amazing sweetie! 💛

During this phase your body experiences significant hormonal shifts: progesterone rises, estrogen drops, insulin sensitivity decreases, metabolism speeds up slightly, and stress resilience lowers. These changes can lead to symptoms like increased hunger, fatigue, irritability, poor sleep, low mood, and heightened anxiety — especially if hormones are imbalanced.

👉🏼 Also, an important disclaimer- this post plays off a lot of the above-mentioned symptoms BUT any severe, disruptive symptoms aren’t “just part of being a woman.” If your luteal phase is negatively affecting daily life, that’s a sign to explore further support — whether through nutrition, lifestyle, or professional guidance.

And while the luteal phase can bring its challenges, it also brings it’s own unique gifts. The luteal phase (if you let it) can be a powerful time for introspection. Your brain’s heightened sensitivity can bring clarity: What’s draining your energy? Which boundaries are being crossed? What have you been tolerating all month that’s no longer acceptable what areas of your life make you feel good vs bad?

It's a time where our body is slowing down and calling for us to slow down with it. Support this phase by:

• Prioritizing sleep & rest
• Eating warming, nutrient-dense foods
• Reducing caffeine & stimulants
• Focusing on low-impact movement
• Honoring emotional fluctuations with self-compassion

Your biology is shifting — and so will your mindset, energy, and emotions. That doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. It means your body is speaking — and it deserves to be heard, supported, and loved.

Short, sweet and powerful

If anyone has any doubts to how amazing the ovulatory phase could be- just ask Lorde. She recently did an interview about how she had come off birth control and that ovulation was "One of the best drugs I’ve ever done". And she ain't lying.

The process leading up to and during ovulation brings so many gifts and advantages with it. In the short term, the benefits of ovulation are increased confidence, mood, self -esteem, strength, resilience, libido and of course, fertility. Basically we are primed to look and feel our best and get out into the world to let everyone know it.

In the long term, the balance of estrogen and progesterone that accompanies ovulation works together to make our bones stronger, hearts healthier, metabolism more efficient and increase our insulin sensitivity. The act of ovulation is so important , according to endocrinology professor Jerilynn Prior, “Women benefit from 35 to 40 years of ovulatory cycles, not just for fertility but also to prevent osteoporosis, stroke, dementia, heart disease, and breast cancer.” In that sense, every ovulation is like a monthly deposit into the bank account of long-term health.

Powerful stuff! That’s why ovulating AND knowing whether you’re ovulating or not is so important. It is a vital part of keeping us happier and healthier for longer.

There's so much more to dive into around ovulation so if you'd like to know more or ask any questions- DM me or pop them in the comments below!

When the Follicular phase is just not Follicular-ing.

Speaking from personal experience of being in Follicular Phase and not feeling my best- it can be a big fat bummer. It can be deflating, frustrating and make you feel like you’re not getting to have you’re 2 weeks of energy and normality.

However- as with everything- it’s a sign from your body. And an invitation to reflect. How have your last cycles been? What activities did you do during your luteal and menstrual phases? How has your stress been the last few months? What has your exercise schedule been like? What has your sleep been like? Do I have a bug or the flu?

And honestly- most of the time that’s where you’re answer and solution will be. For me personally, I’ve had some social things booked in over my last two or so periods where I’ve been drinking, going to bed late, and generally doing high energy and social things. And while they were super fun and I have zero regrets- I always do feel the impact in my cycle.

And while it can be kind of annoying to feel the impact so long after- I know that it also means I have the power to change things for my future cycles. And it’s all about going coming back to cyclical living and routines.

So take the cue from your body and slow things down. Most things can be helped by getting to bed earlier and sleeping for longer, moving every day in gentle, low impactful ways and staying hydrated.
Magnesium, vitamin C and D have all been shown to support healthy estrogen levels and support adrenals.

And to top it off- have some compassion for your body! It’s doing it’s very best 24/7 to keep you healthy and strong. These signals are it just asking for some help to do its job💕
