This is something I say over and over and over again...
Stop pushing through your pain..
It runs counter to what we normally hear.
* You've got to work super hard
* No pain / no gain
* Pain means you're getting somewhere
However, the evidence is crystal clear that pain that's lasted beyond 3 months has more to do with an overprotective response going on in the nervous system than it has to do with damage to the body.
Pushing through pain further inflames this response going on in the nervous system.
It encourages the brain to pump up the volume on the pain in order to be heard.
I get that it's hard to slow down when your to-do list is long.
There may be times when you have no choice and you have to get things done and pushing through is the only option.
The good news is that if you can slow it down, make your movement smaller and refrain from pushing even a little bit, the nervous system will reward you exponentially!!
As an example, if walking brings on pain, try walking with smaller steps, going a little more slowly than you would otherwise.
When you notice the first signs of pain, take a break.
