✨the 30 Day Challenge is NOT a “biggest loser” competition ✨

Why? Because health is SO much more than a number on the scale!

Two people can work just as hard, make as many changes and one might lose 5 lbs, while the other lost 2 lbs. our bodies are DIFFERENT, and that’s ok!

This is why I am so excited to be a part of this collab. We have put together a dream team of wellness professionals to EMPOWER participants to make lifestyle changes and we are AWARDING healthy habits gained 💪

If your goal is weight loss, we want that to be the “cherry on top” of the possible results of this program!

No matter how indulgent your holiday foods were, or how much you ate for dessert last night or snacked before bed, you still need to eat today!

✨Food is fuel✨
To play with your kids
To focus at work/school
To kill it at the gym
To walk your dog
To take care of your family
To be you and do all the things that you do!

Let’s ditch the binge restrict cycle because trust me, I’ve been there too and it doesn’t work.

When I was in college I would eat a huge Nutella stuffed donut, drink nothing but coffee, run five miles and then strive to eat nothing else so that I could have some sweets again later. Yep this IS a Registered Dietitian talking...
I have been a slave to sugar cravings. I have had a poor relationship with food and body image. I have restricted and binged. I have felt like complete garbage because of being undernourished.

Fast forward to today. My relationship with food is so much better. I eat healthy foods to fuel my body. I still go running because I love it, not to punish myself. I am energized and focused. I don’t crave sugar but I do enjoy it from time to time. I still struggle with body image sometimes but I am working on loving myself more. This doesn’t happen over night! It takes time and learning what works for you!

I want you to feel how amazing it is to be fueled and nourished with the energy to be your best self!

🌱make 1/4 of your plate a protein

🌱make the other 1/4 of your plate a starch whole grain (or if you’re like me, save this higher carb portion for something sweet like some fruit or a lara bar 🙂)

No counting, no measuring. Just a simple way to balance!

✨‘tis the season for Christmas cookies ✨

Many people enjoy making, sharing & eating Christmas cookies this time of year. This is totally normal and should be enjoyed!

Here is my mindful eating tip:

Sit down and enjoy a cookie or two with your favorite beverage to go with them (coffee, milk, tea, hot cocoa). Eat slowly and enjoy the delicious flavors. After you have enjoyed it, move on!

Being mindful and present while eating more indulgent foods can help with portion control and actually enjoying the flavors that you are eating. This method can help you to avoid mindlessly eating a large amount and then stressing about it!

Christmas cookies are something fun to look forward to each year. So take the stress away, enjoy a few, share them with friends & family and then move on!

This equals about 129 meals. Of 129 meals, how many are a holiday celebration? Maybe a handful?

If you look at the BIG picture, there are plenty of opportunities to start making healthy choices while still enjoying your holiday favorites!

Personally, thanksgiving is one of my favorite meals of the year! Allow yourself to enjoy your holiday favorites, but then start fresh at your next meal!

I will be offering tips on making more healthy choices through the holiday season!

My clients often are looking for snacks that are crunchy, salty, and/or sweet. This little snack plate has all 3 flavors while providing nutrient density of fiber, protein and fat balanced for fueling a healthy metabolism. This shows a nice example of portion control, as well.

My pb & j oatmeal is delicious, filling and fueling! Compare this to your standard (and boring) little 100-160 calorie oatmeal packet and you’ll find significantly more nutritional quality (higher protein, fiber, and packed with omega 3’s) for fueling a healthy metabolism with usable nutrition. My nutrition advise focuses on making choices for nutrient density, NOT a calorie count!
