'On Faith and Reason': Wisdom’s Precepts: Kindled Fire and the Love Within.

In power, we examine the connection between Science, Arts and Spirituality.

We desire to dwell secure in the nest of Wisdom’s spiritual and material well-being as we contemplate the love within. At issue in this piece is the place of material well-being in the locus of Wisdom’s precepts and healing.

All things are essentially conflicted except One(1).

We are attempting to disentangle the ‘stone from the sling’. It is a matter of priority. The foundation of an enduring system or action is in supporting doctrine and belief.

Wisdom’s foundation and infrastructures are indispensable to peace. The warming ember of peace is kindled by justice. In the political space, measuring lines of injustice are rationalized as shortages of means; - the relentless material (roof) failure on rainy days.

With Wisdom, truth is established in Originality, and error may be immediately discerned. In this way, Wisdom acts as guide and guard. One should not go fishing without the bait.

All things are Wisdom-ordained.There is infinite depth of logic in the arrangement of things as they are;-regardless of whether we understand the permutations and/or combinations.

The mariner’s hail is heard because the winds are favorable. In mathematical terms, Wisdom has taken care of the error in the infinite summation. Wisdom’s counsel of the flock and especially the young is the leash that leads to green pastures. All that is required is to follow Wisdom’s tracks. We reach for the shepherd’s camp of understanding.

As illustration of our thesis, we dare to borrow knowledge from the book of Maccabees. The author (of Maccabees) draws attention to purpose and method; - the foundation of science itself: ‘the architect of a new house must give his attention to the whole structure’ (2 Maccabees 2: 29).

The professions are established by Wisdom. Yet relying on Truth, Wisdom intimates that the doctor has his or her Wisdom from the Maker (origin, creator etc.) who makes the earth to yield healing herbs, endows men and women with knowledge;- a gift to the doctors to ease pain and the pharmacist to prepare medicine (Sirach 38:6-7).

It is implausible to kindle a fire and then choose to walk by another light!

The foundation is the strong base upon which the doorjambs are secured.Wisdom is reflected in every heart according to resonance. A word might mean something different to hearers depending on the conditions of the hearts, minds and souls. There is a need for a firm reference point. This helps to determine how far off or how near to the truth we are.

Using the analogy of parallelism, Adam Smith (capitalist persuasion), in his theory of moral sentiments connected self-interest with virtue. The free market-he argued-can promote responsibility, ability, self-control etc., and may be used to harness virtue and serve the indigent or poor. Smith argued that religion is an expression of the need for justice in the material world (Muller: 1993). Smith’s position was thus established. Deviations therefrom are identifiable and recognized.For our present purpose, we are moving in the direction of Peace as anchor with rectitude and justice as norms.

Quite simply, the way the Storyteller explained the difference between faith and reason to me was that although they will ultimately lead to truth, faith will get you to the truth certainly and faster. The operative words are 'ultimately' 'certainly'.There are so many uncertainties in the way of valid reason to truth.

Frankly, all assumptions will have to be correct for logic alone to lead to truth. The logician will also need to have all the information necessary for correct or exact decision-making. Hence, the error factor in the math infinite summation ( Σ=sigma).

The Faithful Traveler:

I knew a Man once; still do, who told me a story of a father and child on a journey from one town to another. The destination was a short journey as the crow flies. The father told the child they were going to travel through the city streets instead of the main highway. The child said: 'that might be a longer route'.

'Son', said the father, 'The car is not in excellent condition. Besides, on the inter-state highway, there are no roadside mechanics and robbers abound'. As they journeyed, the car did indeed break down. What, but a childlike love and faith would hold a father or mother's hand and journey through unknown route to a desired destination? Still; a pebble on the road is not there by chance, but in relation to its surroundings.

To friends: Safe travels always!

May we feel love deep enough to give it; this hope-filled Love that suffices in word and deed. 'This love', according to Shakespeare, 'that is an ever-fixed mark; that looks on tempests and is never shaken'.

Hosea: A Labyrinth of Love

It is desirable to present excerpts from my completed work on Prophet Hosea (being edited);as further proof of Wisdom in the created order.

The book of Hosea comprises only a few chapters. However, a mystical look within reveals the labyrinth of Wisdom's way.

These excerpts are a lesson in Wisdom's prudence.The book of Hosea is a treasure,- a raised torch to enkindle the embers of love.

The book of Hosea treats of Wisdom's organizational concern(Humanity) and the mystery of the family. Essentially, God told Hosea to go marry a woman of vice, in order to reveal Wisdom's purpose and mercy.

The comfort of the prophet became secondary to the Truth.

Wisdom's many ways are a labyrinth of Love. Relationships perch delicately on purpose pedestals. Comfort soars in mutual communion.

Vision and beauty are Wisdom's way.Wisdom's vision is often seen by leaders who seek uniqueness or beauty;-severally defined.(See Moses, David etc.). This uniqueness or beauty shines the light as stars in the opaque horizon.

Wisdom heals. Loving relationships are the embroideries of hearts' commitment to a cause, an ideal or an idea;- the shepherd's pearl as it were, beautifully worn.

Of the Shepherd's Shield:

Often it said that one should love oneself as a prerequisite to love for neighbor. It is a loaded proposition that needs constant revisit. The original author of the idea of Love of God and neighbor is consubstantially God to Christians. This means One with the God of the Universe, all belong to Him. By extension, He wants all one with Him.

The original word arrangement in that commandment is as eyes that see, and with precise juxtaposition of thought. The premium is on the neighbor first before the conjunctive adjuration: love your neighbor as you love yourself. It is deliberately devoid of selfishness as a distinct value proposition; valid and also true as Christian doctrine. The present usage underscores a philosophical utility valid but untrue.

The examples below may illumine an essential consideration:

a) The apostle Paul amplified the definition of love as a locus of growth that never fails(1 Cor 13:4-8).Love never fails because it is spiritually enabled. Love is not exclusively a feat of Man
(woman).This love places the other person's interest before self-interest. Infact, this love makes both interests as one by original conception.This love establishes context and meaning for the crucifixion of Christ.

b) Consider that Saul was chasing David on the ' Rocks of the Wild Goats'. At some point David's men spotted a vulnerable Saul in the darkness of the cave. They said: Behold the day of which the Lord said, i will deliver thine enemy unto thine hand (1 Sam. 24:2). A strike on Saul was all that was needed. It was reasonably the rest they sought in a cloud of dreams!

David instead withdrew a distance and declared to his former master: The Lord judge between me and thee and plead my cause'(1 Sam 24:15). That was love of neighbor. Any mystic knows what that means. Almost immediately Saul declared: Behold I know one day thou shalt be king (1 Sam 24:20).

(One of David's most undervalued characteristics was focus. He lived, played the instrument etc., but he had focus).

In this example, David's focus was on Saul's anointing. David had discernment enough to distinguish between human victory and Spiritual victory; human love vs love of God. One is fleeting, the other is not. Only God can save.

c) When sometime later, an Amalekite brought news of Saul's demise, falsely relating how he (the Amalekite) killed Saul- hoping for a reward- David had the Amalekite killed. The Amalekite had a dim view of David's faith. Said David: How was thou not afraid to destroy the Lord's anointed?( II Sam. 1-14). That was love of God.

d) Consider David's reaction to the news of the killing of Ishboshet whom some considered David's enemy. He was in bed sleeping. The murderers came to David hoping for a reward. Observe the Spirit in David: when one told me he killed Saul hoping for a reward, i slew that man at Ziklag. How much more when wicked men have slain a righteous person (II Sam 4: 10-11).This is love of neighbor. A lot of this is self-activating by the love within. (By the way, the same love within was activated by prophet Nathan in the Bathsheba drama).

d)This David was also human. David and his men sought to exact a severe penalty from an unrepentant Nabal. They'd previously watched over Nabal's sheep. They were asking for a reward or payment of some kind. On this occasion, David's focus was on himself and his men.It was Abigail who aided by the Spirit helped David avoid a major difficulty. (For those who still have found no value in women..).

The act of love is only truly possible with aid of the Holy Spirit!

Called by a Name: The Shepherd's Cry!

The maiden's call that it might have been is a bold call despite its regret. The vastness of the sea is no match for her Maker.The new exodus across the perilous seas is a run away from the self. Desperate brothers and sisters need follow fast focused mow of the systemic lawns across the continent.

From the bosom of truth, eyes atop the mast, and also from a look from deep within; burdensome potentates are found around and within us all, but for Grace!

One of the organizing principles of the Isaac Measure App is that the individual(s) and the environment constitute the System. Love's counsel is to abide within the company of those who fear 'His' name, and thenceforth drink of living water from on high.

In Community violence, society's wear and tear are traceable to lack of tenderness. Both oppressors and oppressed are victims talking past one another.

On a day when i sought to hear good, and not ill, i hastened to and heard from a venerable man from whom i'd learned so much.(This is not the Storyteller). On that occasion, the aforementioned gentleman was agonizing over the sound of 'Rachel's wailing' for her children- a community problem. This gentleman was 'a soldier in prayer'. He prayerfully shook the sanctuary.That was until he asked the Maker to help our 'colored people'.

I instinctively grinned in understanding. I just loved the Man. He could not escape the system. Every system is peculiarly scented.

The government's role is to organize the environment that impacts the system. The wine of confusion is evident in political environments across the continent. In Africa, the governments have not organized well the environments. Hence, the systemic failures.(Again, the system comprise the individual(s) and environment(s)).

At the Soul level; consider marriage (unity) as a doorway to Love: a good thing; that spring of love that gives hope to the system. At the Soul level, two systems come together as one (in unity) in a common fight against the systemic foe.

However, good men and women have frequently felt the wrath of the fading heat and have asked why the fire burned so intensely. The pruning of the Soul's environment is for the faithful and the patient. Wisdom does provide distance as dampener to challenge. Indeed, Wisdom provides all the dampeners to challenges.

Peace and truth will always confirm love's prescription. It is unwise to plunder the environment at the expense of the system; for better or for worse. 'The maiden that succeeds her mistress' (Proverbs 30:23) is always a problem, so too is the plunder of the nation's wealth by those obligated to organize it.

Wisdom does raise up in time, comfort in environments and systems.
