Our back to Nature approach stems from an ancient Greek phrase, deus ex machina meaning, "god from the machine". It is a calque that is used to describe a plot device in story telling in which a supposedly unsolvable problem is resolved by the intervention of a new event, character, or ability. This is intended to move the story forward when the writer has no other apparent options or sees no other way out.
Flora Ex Machina is a version of this concept, except we’ve substituted the Latin term flora, meaning plant life. Flora also happens to be the name of the Roman goddess of flowers, plants, and fertility. The name embodies our core values regarding our philosophy on food, health, and happiness. Plants are the magical solution to a seemingly unsolvable problem. At some point in human history we’ve managed to veer far off course in our innate understanding of how to take care of our bodies, live harmoniously with Nature, and use the inherent qualities of plants to heal and sustain ourselves. Plants are the solution to the seemingly insurmountable problem:
how can I be the healthiest version of myself? In reaction to the many questionable and often times harmful practices and beliefs when it comes to all things, diet, medicine, and beauty, we’ve taken a ‘back to the earth’ approach. We believe that there is no 100 percent failsafe or correct approach on how to eat and live well. Diet dogma comes in all shapes and sizes and we’ve chosen not to subscribe to any of them fully. Our philosophy is one of learning to benefit from many philosophies by broadening our knowledge of many traditional healing modalities. We’re looking back to the earth for the tools of healing, using ancient practices in a modern world. Humans discovered very early on that everything they need to maintain their health is available to them in Nature. In the end, we are all unique, complex creatures. We aren't perfect, we often want it all. In a modern society with so many often toxic options, we have to retrain our minds and bodies, find what works for ourselves, ignoring the nonsense. But I firmly believe we can do this without sacrificing health, or taste. Live Beautifully.

What is a Holistic Facial???
The Beauty Industry doesn’t speak to me, yet I’ve always been interested in skincare. Since I was little I was making potions and concoctions in my backyard from mud and twigs. This later evolved into a love for scent and diy kitchen pharmacy facemasks. Weaving nutrition and energy work together, I would have thought the last thing to come to light was a skincare line and the desire to persue my esthetics license, but here we are…now I offer skincare unlike anything the beauty industry might qualify as such.
So what is a Holistic Facial?
As a holistic practitioner, I believe that health and healing is completely holistic - meaning, essentially, everything is related to health and impacts our health. And the way we heal, somatic, meaning the body needs to feel/understand it first to make any changes. So while a facial does traditionally address our skin from a “beautification” perspective, whatever this means to the individual, I am more interested in how the skin, our largest organ - directly associated with our detoxification and nervous system - truly rules our entire operating system.
Skincare is not just taking care of your skin. It’s not just esthetics. It’s a lens, an access point or portal linking your entire body and nervous system. It’s an opportunity to be held and pampered…

AUTUMN RITUALS I’M LOVING
I’ve always believed it’s the small steps, devotions, and seemingly insignificant actions that actually have the most impact. To our skin. To our health. To our emotional being. Everything we do creates a ripple effect that bleeds into the rest of our daily lives, building and shaping routines, rituals and our overall realities. As the weather changes, so too do our rituals. Here are the rituals I’m loving as I ebb and flow with this shifting season.

Holistic Nutrition sessions involve bloodwork and dna analysis (if applicable), a deep dive into your diet and lifestyle and a 60 minute one-on-one session with Alle. The initial consultation also provides a month of email support. Sessions are made in person in Los Angeles, or over the phone or skype.
