🌟 I'm participating in the Dry January challenge as a reminder to myself how much more you feel energy. Embrace a month of holistic health, blending the benefits of taking a break from drinking with rejuvenating yoga.
Day 2 - Camel - Ustrasana 🐫
Camel Pose stretches and opens up the whole front side of the body, the complete opposite range of motion to being slouched over keyboards and phones. When we bend backwards we expose what we normally protect, our neck and our heart. Supported by arch of a strong back find comfort in this vulnerable position. Relax, breathe and feel mind-body connection in this heart opening pose. Ustrasana is included in the Hot Yoga Sequence which I’d recommend to help you stay sober. The heavy sweat help your liver clear toxins. I’m looking forward to completing the 30 day Hot Yoga challenge starting the 15th.

In Astavakrasana limbs are bent, twisted or crossed in eight places at both wrists, elbows, knees and ankle joints. Each of the twists creates tensegrity which acts as a kinetic structure to counter balance the weight of the legs.

Day 04. Youthful dream: Bird of paradise pose / Svarga Dvidasana

Svarga Dividasana is a challenging pose that requires open hips and shoulders as well as great balance. This was a challenge within the challenge for me and I was unable to straighten my leg and hold my balance.

On the occasion of international youth day, I’d like to celebrate feeling so alive and youthful and yoga is a big reason for my vitality. Within each asana are keys to energetic pathways to be explored and used to help attain optimal function. Youthfulness is an attitude and mindset. AA daily yoga practice gives your body the ability to carry your soul around with strength, confidence and freedom of movement. Being youthful means being possible for possibilities your life has designed for you.

Warm up your wrists before you begin. Reduced fear of falling while leaning forward with a bolster, cushion or folded blanket on the ground under head. Core strength helps, most of the work comes from your abdominals. Use blocks under feet to get used to flying and lift one leg at a time. Work toward lifting both legs.

Some motivation to get me posting again....
Day 1 of Challenge is Plank 💪🏽!
Phalakasana / Plank Pose is the perfect precursor to more challenging arm balances. Plank works the entire body effectively in one static position. Hold this asana for 30 seconds a few times a day, and you will strengthen your abdominals, hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, back, core, glutes and legs.
When you first try doing this pose try to keep the hips in a straight line between the shoulders and the heels as they tend to hike upward or sag down and spread your fingers apart. ( hasta bandha )

🕉 What we practice becomes habit. The way we start our day can effect how the day flows. It is of great benefit to establish a morning routine to ensure positive energy flows.
In Reiki, we are taught to say the Reiki Prayer which we seed words of Gokai (Reiki Principles) into our life, so that it can influences our mind, soul, body and environment.
🙏 REIKI PRINCIPLES - PART OF OUR DAILY SPIRITUAL PRACTICE.
In the practice of Reiki Principles lie huge rewards and spiritual growth. The practice should be incorporated into a Reiki Practitioner’s daily routine.
The Reiki Kyogi ( Principles) or Gokai (Five Precepts)
Today only - Principle: live in the present moment, not trying to control the future.
Do not anger - Principle: Anger leads to imbalance, entrapping and destroying. It is driven by ego (let go!), and it sparks a chain reaction in others
Do not worry - Principle: recognize what is beyond your control and entrust it to universe. Worry becomes a vicious cycle, anxious about being worried.
With Thankfulness - Principle: Be grateful ! The universe provides all that you need. The blessings of nature fill you with joy.
Work Diligently - Principle: perform the life mission you were created for. Even performance of daily duty leads to spiritual growth.
Be Kind to Others - Principle: Kindness is infectious; it teaches others how to be kind. Be kind without expecting a reward.

A Zen Buddhist Monk who was credited with introducing "MIndfullness" to our experience.
While doing research to prepare for my anatomy classes I found that there are scientific studies that reveal that the simple act of activating the muscles involed in smilng produces a measurable effect on mood. A persons syptoms of depression were lowered by smiling even if they did not feel happy.

🧘🏽‍♂️🧘🏼‍♂️ Control Group Pose A Pose for self soothing, self regulation based on somatic therapist Dr. Peter Levine’s positive results. After events that take away your feeling of safety you need to pick up the prices and feel whole again. A tool to feel relatively safe is to become aware of our container. Start by placing your Right hand under your left arm (feel heartbeat) then left hand on right shoulder . I’ve added single leg balance to have body and brain unite in a common goal. Breathe in to a count of 4 and out to a count of 8 to relax. Stay Free 🖖 yoga
