Want your practice to be the top-listed Clinic?
At Hutchens Funeral Homes, we strive to care for each family as if they were our own. As the grandson of a casket maker, our founder, the late Gene Hutchens, was a part of funeral service since birth. A veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, Gene taught at the St. Louis College of Mortuary Science and the American Academy of Funeral Service in New York City before establishing his own funeral home. In 1955, Gene and Rosemarie, his wife, founded the Florissant Mortuary in Old Town Florissant, MO. Ten years later in 1965, he then built the current Hutchens Mortuary facility located at 675 Graham Road in the heart of Florissant.
In every sense…a family business
Although Gene is no longer with us, Hutchens Funeral Homes carries on Gene’s legacy and vision through his successive generations. His son, second-generation funeral director John Hutchens, serves as president and a co-owner of the firm. Gene’s grandson, Mark Hutchens, is a third-generation funeral director and works with his father, John, as a co-owner and managing director of Hutchens Funeral Homes. Nancy DeJarnatt, Gene’s eldest daughter, manages the prearrangement services and has been with the family business for over 30 years.
Building upon our legacy…
