Yea it can, but if youโre a meat and/or seafood you donโt have to worry about it. The haem iron in these foods is best absorbed and not significantly impacted ๐ฅฉ๐ฆช๐๐ช๐ผ
Non-haem iron in plant foods and eggs may be impacted. Compounds in matcha - and black and green tea - that are excellent for you so do enjoy these drinks, have the potential to bind to non-harm iron and reduce absorption.
This doesnโt mean you should have matcha! Just donโt have it within an hour of your vegetarian meal. And you can add a vitamin C rich food to the meal to increase non-haem iron absorption ๐๐๐ซ๐ซโ
Best plant sources of iron include: legumes (beans and lentils), green veggies like kale, firm tofu, seeds especially pepitas, tahini, oats, quinoa, prunes and dark chocolate.
