Nightingale Initiative for Global Health Nightingale Initiative for Global Health (NIGH) is a grassroots, nurse-inspired movement to increase

While health is a keen concern touching each one of us, most critical global health issues are under-reported, undervalued and poorly understood. Together with your contributions, the growing volunteer team of the Nightingale Initiative for Global Health (NIGH) is increasing global public awareness about health and nursing concerns— as well as empowering nurses and concerned citizens to collaborate with us.

Happy National Nursing Week!

As we celebrate Canada's National Nursing Week, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for each and every nursing friend and colleague. The theme for this year, "Changing Lives, Shaping Tomorrow," resonates deeply with the invaluable work we do every day.

Our unwavering dedication and compassion have touched countless lives, offering hope and healing to those grappling with physical challenges and mental health challenges. Through our skilled hands and caring hearts, we have been instrumental in changing the trajectories of individuals and families, guiding them towards a brighter future.

On National Nursing Week, I encourage us to reflect on the profound impact we have made and continue to make. Each act of kindness, every moment of active listening, and every intervention we provide has the power to transform lives. We are beacons of hope, guiding individuals through their darkest moments and empowering them to reclaim their lives.

Thank you all, for the unwavering commitment to excellence and dedication to the well-being of communities. Our contributions will forever be etched in the hearts of those you have touched.

Happy National Nursing Week!

Our Story

While health is a keen concern touching each one of us, most critical global health issues are under-reported, undervalued and poorly understood. Together with your contributions, the growing grassroots-to-global volunteer team of the Nightingale Initiative for Global Health (NIGH) is increasing global public awareness about health and nursing concerns— as well as empowering nurses and concerned citizens to collaborate with us.

Currently, we are ramping up to celebrate—and encourage millions of nurses and midwives to celebrate and participate with us—during the 2020 Bicentenary Year of Florence Nightingale’s birth in 1820. We have, in November 2018, launched our global project ‘Legacy of Light’ — an independent feature film and transmedia campaign to widely share the Nightingale’s epic story.
