My Spouse Has Cancer - Which Means We Have Cancer A Practical Workbook for Cancer Caregivers
by Colby J. Barak
As a 10+ year cancer caregiver, I know that cancer
can leave you in a deep, dark hole.

This is me tossing you my flashlight. I hope you never need this book,
but if you do, I hope it helps

As a caregiver, you hold the lives of others in your hands. You're not doing it wrong. You're just doing a lot. 💙

There's this voice that tells caregivers they should be doing more, handling it better, staying stronger. But here's the truth: you're already doing an incredible amount. You showed up today. That's enough.

Feeling insufficient doesn't mean you ARE insufficient. It means you care deeply about the person you're supporting, and that weight is real. The gap between what you want to do and what you can actually do is real. The exhaustion is real.

But so is your strength. So is your love. So is your effort.

When overwhelm hits, self-care isn't selfish—it's survival. It's how you remind yourself that you matter too. It's how you refuel so you can keep showing up.

Take a moment today. Just one. Breathe. Drink water. Step outside. Whatever you need.

You're doing better than you think. 💙

What's one thing you're proud of doing this week, even if it's small?

Self care for caregivers seems impossible some days, but try a simple break, a small treat, or even a quick nap, and it can make a big impact.

When caregiving feels overwhelming, even the basics matter: sleep, nutrition, exercise, and alone time. Every small routine is a step toward caring for your loved one—and yourself.

My practical workbook for cancer caregivers, "My Spouse Has Cancer (Which Means WE Have Cancer) is a resource that can help you regain some of the control over your life that cancer tried to take. You're not alone in this. 💙
