šŸ§˜ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜Œ Happy Baby Pose may look simple, but its effects on the body and mind are deeply powerful. Holding this pose for just 30 seconds can create an immediate sense of release, especially in the hips and lower back where stress and tension often collect. As the knees gently open and the spine relaxes into the floor, tight muscles begin to soften, allowing the body to reset from stiffness caused by sitting, stress, or physical strain.

This pose gently stretches the lower spine and decompresses the hips without forcing the body. The natural rocking motion many people add helps massage the lower back, improving circulation and easing discomfort. Better blood flow means oxygen and nutrients reach the muscles more efficiently, which speeds recovery and reduces tension buildup.

Happy Baby Pose also activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation and recovery. As breathing slows and deepens, the body shifts out of stress mode and into calm. This can lower heart rate, reduce anxiety, and create a feeling of emotional balance. It is one of the reasons this pose feels like an instant mental reset.

Another benefit is improved mobility. Flexible hips protect the lower back by allowing movement to stay evenly distributed through the body. When hips are tight, the spine is forced to compensate, often leading to pain or stiffness.

Just half a minute in this pose can realign posture, relax the nervous system, and restore comfort. It proves that small moments of mindful movement can create big changes in how the body feels.

Have you tried this pose before? What's your favorite way to de-stress after a long day?

For those who dare to live life by design, not default.

Sometimes you have to fake it just long enough to make it...
When we were building Student magazine, we didn’t have money, fame, or contacts. But we had one thing in abundance: a willingness to take risks.

We needed people to take us seriously, and we needed some attention. So I thought, 'if the real movers and shakers aren’t calling us yet, let’s act like they are.'

Whenever journalists visited our little office (more like a glorified broom cupboard), the phone would ring repeatedly.

ā€œIt’s Ted Heath for you, Richard!ā€
ā€œDavid Bailey says it’s urgent!ā€
ā€œMick Jagger’s on line two!ā€

I’d pause, look apologetic, and say: "Tell them I’ll call back - I’m just in a meeting.ā€

Of course, none of them were really on the line. It was usually my friend Tony, sitting on the floor, playing switchboard with a cheeky grin.

The journalists would start scribbling furiously in their notepads. 'Clearly very well connected,' I imagined them thinking. 'This Branson chap must be going places.'

And that was the point.

When you're starting out, people often don’t see your potential and credibility. They only see what is. So sometimes, you need to help them imagine it!

I wasn’t fibbing to be malicious. I was bluffing to buy us a seat at the table. And sometimes, the bluff worked. Big names started picking up the phone. Mick Jagger did eventually call (he even signed the Rolling Stones to us). So did Bailey. We had faked it, but thankfully by the time anyone caught on, we had already made it.
