If you’re waiting for motivation… it may never show up 😂

Honestly, motivation is overrated. It’s action that creates change.

Here’s the truth… I am incredibly motivated to help women transform their health. Deeply. Passionately. It lights me up.
But… getting on social media to post? Hard. Honestly, I’m not a fan.

Today was the perfect example.
I scheduled to make a video for 10am.
And what did I do instead?
Cleaned the house. Helped someone. Found 101 “urgent” things to do. Procrastinated like a pro.

But I’ve made a commitment to myself… one small, real post every day.

So even though I pushed it right to the very last moment — literally 4pm before running out the door to my granddaughters’ school concert — I still did it.

Not because I was motivated.
But because it was scheduled and I took the action.

That’s exactly what we teach women in the GutStrong program.

We keep it simple. We tell you what to do one day, you schedule it in, and you do it the next.

No drama. No overwhelm. No waiting for the “perfect moment.”

Budging stubborn weight…

You eat clean.
You walk every day.
You’ve tried every diet under the sun.

I love coffee ☕️ Truly!
And coffee has been proven to increase beneficial Bifidobacterium species BUT… also love my gut and my day to be calm & clear, so I choose when I drink it very carefully.

Here is why…

Caffeine does more than wake you up. Research shows it increases dopamine, which feels good, but it also switches on your stress system. It raises cortisol and other stress hormones.

Cortisol naturally peaks when you wake. It should slowly drop across the day so your energy, digestion and sleep stay steady. When it stays high for too long, you start to feel wired, anxious, bloated or flat.

Many women in their fifties and sixties feel this every morning and never link it back to their first drink of the day.

Studies show that caffeine first thing in the morning can shift your whole daily rhythm… And if you have a second cup after 1pm, caffeine can keep cortisol raised till the evening... the time your body needs it to be falling.

And if tea is your morning go-to, remember it still contains caffeine... and does the same thing to your body!!

So I save my coffee for after breakfast.
Not because I want to give it up.
But because I want my gut calm, my mood steady and my energy predictable.

Straight lemon juice is not ideal either. A gentler option is blending a whole lemon with peeled ginger, freezing it in cubes and dropping one into warm water. This supports your gut and digestion without stressing your system.

Your microbiome responds to whatever you choose first.

I choose the coffee later.
The lemon-ginger cube first.

What if everything you’ve blamed on ageing has had nothing to do with age at all? This is the part no one ever told you…
 
Most people think their health “suddenly” changes in midlife due to age (I did!) but the truth is your microbiome 🦠 has been taking ‘hits’ since birth.
 
Your first microbes come from your mum 👶By age 3 to 5, your gut microbiome already looks a lot like an adult’s.

From there, things like diet, medicines, infections, lifestyle and stress can shift it at any point through life. When those shifts stack up over the years, symptoms start to appear.
 
➡️ Birth to 5… A healthy baby, the youngest of 3 girls. Idyllic childhood, but by age 4, I had umbilical hernia surgery, rounds of antibiotics 👶💊
 
➡️ 6 to 10… Carefree, happy and busy being a kid. Chicken pox and scraped knees, but nothing unusual 🌼
 
➡️ 11 to 15… Everything started to shift. I spent months on antibiotics for a boil on my lip and fell into dieting because I thought I was “fat”. For context… I was 45kg at 164 cm. These years hit my microbiome hard.
 
➡️ 16 to 20… A mix of freedom and stress. Finished school and took a two-year gap period, lived in Sydney for a while 🌏 came back to study teaching, had a 4yr relationship that ended, then met Michael ❤️

My body always bounced back ⚽️ 
But now I know it didn’t 
It was simply young enough to hide the early signs 💡

What I know now (at 62) is that ‘poor health’ doesn’t just happen… It is the build-up of stress, diets, antibiotics, medication and lifestyle choices that slowly wear down your microbiome.

By the time symptoms appear, the erosion has already been happening for years.

My health didn’t suddenly crumble in my 40s. The cracks started much earlier… I just ignored them.

Here’s part 2 of 3 of my Microbiome journey…

➡️ 21 to 25yrs… Married at 21, in our last year of Uni 💑 2 big car accidents 🚘 Became High School Speech & Drama teacher, taught down South and in Perth. Welcomed first son 👶 Bought first home 🏠 Life felt full and exciting and we were already dreaming about our next adventure.

➡️ 26 to 30… We moved to Japan 🎏 Navigating a completely different life. Welcomed our second son 👶born in Japan. But with no family support, felt overwhelmed and moved back to Perth with sons for a few months. Life was moving fast 🏃🏻‍♀️Returned to Japan, and the bold idea to open our own English language school arose 🏫 — we threw ourselves into building something from the ground up.

➡️31 to 35… Life was speeding along 🚅 We had been in Japan close to a decade and our school had more than 650 students. We were employing teachers from around the world 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫 I started a Homestay company and partnered with JTB (Japan’s Biggest Travel Bureau) to take school aged children to Perth for homestay tours 🏕️ Doing business by fax and phone 😐The boys were now 8 and 5 and we welcomed our daughter 👧 I did what most mothers do... worked, managed the home and focused on everyone else. I never thought about my own health. Not once. I just kept going 🫩

➡️ 36 to 40… We were living half the year in Perth and half in Japan, swapping countries in three-month blocks. Wrote & published a book with a friend 📕One child in kindy, one in primary school and one in high school. Constant travel ✈️ constant juggling 🤹‍♀️ The cracks started to appear 💔 My back hurt constantly... My sleep was terrible … My digestion was unsettled. And still, I pushed through because that is what women do.

To the outside world I looked strong and successful. But on the inside it was falling apart.

Looking back now, I can see clearly… My microbiome was under strain long before my symptoms exploded in the next 20-yrs.

I didn’t get healthy because life got easier. I got healthy while life was at its hardest‼️

Hi, I’m Nat and here’s my life from 41 to 62 and how it changed everything I thought I knew about ageing and health 🍃

It also shows what happens to your microbiome when stress, life and responsibility stack up.

You think it is age 🧑‍🦳�It is your microbiome🦠�And you can fix it ✨

📚 Research shows the gut microbiota stays fairly stable, but stress, antibiotics, infections and lifestyle changes can shift it. These shifts can trigger symptoms. I lived all of them.

➡️ 41 to 45yrs… 🚄 Sold our school in Japan 🎎moved back to Perth, became Executive Dean of a language school. High pressure. Nightly drinking 🍷 Bought (& sold) a café, launched Voi Organics and juggled teenagers. My health collapsed. 15kg gained, debilitating back pain, itchy skin, zero energy and constant digestive issues. 💊Medications, Supplements, Diets, Exercise. Nothing lasted.

➡️ 46 to 50… 💥 Back spasm— crashed into shower screen 🚑 Hospital, Specialists offered medication and surgery. Went back to university to study Nutritional Medicine 🎓 Discovered the Gut Microbiome. Started the rebalance.. shifts in weight, hormones, mood, skin, energy, digestion. I wasn’t broken. My microbiome was just weak 😢

➡️51 to 55… Rebuilt my Microbiome using evidence-based science 🫶 Opened my own clinic, helped 450+ women regain their health and effortlessly managed my work+family+life. No medications, no supplements 🌿

➡️ 56 to 60… I became a grandmother three times👶👧🧒 Helped another 400+ women become GutStrong while living pain free, strong, trim and steady.
