The ultimate in self-care – look no further than The Age Well Project. As draws to a close, I want to shine a light on this brilliant duo: Susan Saunders Health and Annabel Streets the masterminds behind The Age-Well Project. 🌟

After watching family members struggle with heart disease, cancer, dementia and diabetes, Susan and Annabel were determined to do everything they could to reduce their own risk.

They’ve essentially done the heavy lifting for us – offering bite-sized, evidence-based advice that’s simple to apply and genuinely effective. 😍

These 4 women are brilliant role models for any midlife woman, and I loved chatting to them for The Happy Menopause podcast! 😍

To celebrate Self-Care Week 2025, I’m highlighting their episodes so you can discover their inspiring journeys and pick up some brilliant tips to apply to your own life. 🌟

Joy & Adventure: How to Make the Most of Midlife with Jo Moseley (S1, Ep 18)

How to Transform Yourself & Get the Best Out Of Your Life (S3, Ep 9) with Tracy Acock of The Wellbeing Wisdom Club.
After a lifetime of cancer nursing, Tracy retired to Cornwall — but soon realised she wasn’t quite ready to stop. She retrained as a life coach and now runs The Wellbeing Wisdom Club. 🏊‍♀️

Challenging the Stereotypes Around Older Women (S2, Ep 12)
Siobhan Daniels, has given up her home to travel solo around Great Britain and Europe (and is soon heading to Alaska!) in her motorhome. She’s on a mission to challenge stereotypes around older women and embrace adventure along the way. 🚐

Simple self-care! Walking is a huge weapon in our personal health armoury and can make an enormous difference to our wellbeing and longevity.🚶‍♀️

It’s free, it’s easy, it's gentle on the joints, and it’s completely time-flexible, so there’s really no excuse for us not walk as often as we can. And this is why I’m highlighting it this , because it needs to go firmly on your agenda! 🗓

I’m flagging up two fascinating podcasts that I recorded for The Happy Menopause with the brilliant Annabel Abbs, researcher, author and co-founder of The Age-Well Project.

Check out 52 Ways to Walk Your Way to Health in Season 3, Episode 12, and The Walking Cure in Season 6, Episode 16. 🎧

Annabel draws on her extensive research to demonstrate the real and measurable benefits to walking in particular places, at particular times and during particular weathers. 🏞 🌊 🌳❄️🌨🌬

These episodes are all about unlocking those benefits and rethinking the way we move through the world.

Tune in here: www.well-well-well.co.uk/podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts, and find out how and why your daily walk can make a difference.🧡

What a treat to receive this goodie pack of artisan cheese from Long Clawson Dairy. Made with love and truly delicious! 🙏

It seemed like the perfect opportunity to use some to make a batch of cheese and vegetable soup for these cold winter days, so that I didn’t eat it all at once, because I love cheese! 😋

Dairy often gets a bad wrap, but it’s perfectly nutritious, as long as you’re not one of the unlucky people who can’t digest it properly and need to avoid it. 😢

It’s an affordable and easy source of protein, calcium, vitamin B12 and other B vitamins, iodine and potassium, to name but a few. 🌟

Before you dismiss it, remember that it comes in many forms:

🧡 Kefir, which is packed with beneficial bacteria to support your gut health and immune system
🧡 Cheese which brings joy to our lives (thank you Clawson!) – and by the way, cheddar contains more calcium than milk
🧡 Cottage cheese and authentic Greek yoghurt, which are both highly concentrated sources of protein

So even if you don’t get on terribly well with milk itself, you might find that these fermented forms of dairy suit you very well. 😇

Food should be all about joy as well as nutrition – and I’m delighted to have these delicious soups in my freezer, all ready to enjoy over the coming weeks, plus all the extra cheese leftover to savour as a treat. 🎉

Thanks to The Good Kitchen Table for the delicious smoked cheddar & cauliflower soup recipe, as well as the genius idea of making cauliflower crisps out of the leaves! 🤩

And to Felicity Cloake for her brilliant broccoli and stilton soup, from her How to Make the Perfect series. Every one of her recipes is a winner!🏅

If you’re looking for a simple, joyful way to boost your wellbeing during menopause… try singing! 🎶💛

To celebrate Self-Care Week I’m revisiting one of my favourite The Happy Menopause episodes: How to Sing Your Way Through the Menopause with the brilliant Dr Catherine Pestano FRSA — community musician, mental health social worker, menopause activist and all-round champion of helping us free our voices.

Whether you’re a committed choir-goer or a strictly-sing-in-the-shower type, singing has so many benefits. From lifting your mood and easing stress to supporting your emotional and physical health, it can make a real difference to how you feel in midlife.

In this episode we dive into:
🎵 How singing can support menopause symptoms
🎵 Why your voice might change during hormonal shifts
🎵 The power of group singing for connection and friendship
🎵 How to overcome inhibitions and enjoy your voice at any level
🎵 The inspiring world of song therapy

Catherine’s warmth and expertise are a gorgeous reminder that singing is for all of us — and a wonderful act of self-care.

✨ Tune in, take a breath, and get inspired! Your voice deserves to be heard. Check out Season 4 Episode 4 wherever you get your podcasts or via the link in the comments. 🧡
