Chelsey Summers - ADHD Coaching 🧠 ADHD Coach helping busy professionals thrive and succeed!
👇 Free consultation available https://calendly.com/summersadhdcoaching/consultation Hi there!

I'm Chelsey Summers, a certified speech-language pathologist turned ADHD Coach. My own personal journey with ADHD sparked a passion within me to help others. I battled through school undiagnosed, was misdiagnosed with depression in college, and compensated my way through most of graduate school. It was the last year of my Master's program when I was diagnosed with ADHD and dyscalculia. Unfortunately, I was not given the appropriate resources to fully understand the impact that ADHD can have on all aspects of life if left unmanaged. It wasn't until reaching my absolute breaking point and complete burnout in my career as a school-based speech-language pathologist that I learned I could get help! Finding the right support, which for me included medication, counseling, and hiring an ADHD Coach was quite literally life-saving. Now, my mission is to pay it forward and offer support to adults who might be struggling with unmanaged ADHD just like I did. I'm so thankful for my ADHD journey and I'm grateful I didn't do it alone. You don’t have to either! 💜

Brilliant and creative strategy!

Perfectionism can make people with ADHD put things off. The 80/20 rule means a few key actions (about 20%) create most of the result (about 80%). Pick the most important steps and do those first. Aim for good enough, not perfect. What’s worked for you? Learn how ADHD affects being able to get things done, and get tips to boost your motivation: https://u.org/3Yx3lKL

You're not lazy. You're dysregulated! When your ADHD brain is stuck, it's not a motivation problem...it's likely a nervous system problem.

Dysregulation looks like:
→ Can't start even "easy" tasks
→ Physically frozen or foggy
→ Everything feels overwhelming

The fix isn't "try harder" or extra discipline. It's regulation!

First, just pause. Check in with your body. Are you tired, hungry, thirsty? Do you have the energy right now? Sometimes we don't have the capacity to do the thing we're asking ourselves to do at that moment.

You deserve kindness and compassion - not blame and shame. That starts with understanding your brain, not fighting it.

If you've ever stood in your kitchen at 7am completely forgetting what you were supposed to do next, this is for you.

You're not failing at something that "should be simple." Your brain just works differently, and mornings require executive function skills that are hardest to access first thing in the day.

I walked through the entire RIEAAR framework for building ADHD-friendly mornings in my latest blog post. No color-coded planners required. No 5am wake-up times. Just systems that actually fit your brain.

Before you make ADHD resolutions, read this.

Every January, we're bombarded with messages about fresh starts, new habits, and becoming a "better version" of ourselves. But here's what most New Year resolution advice gets wrong for ADHD brains: it ignores regulation entirely.

You can't motivate your way out of dysregulation. You can't discipline yourself into capacity you don't have. And you definitely can't willpower through a nervous system that's already maxed out.

Before you commit to ambitious goals, ask yourself:

- Is my nervous system regulated right now?
If you're already running on fumes from the holidays, starting the year in fight-or-flight mode, or feeling completely overwhelmed, no amount of planning will stick.

- What's my actual capacity today?
ADHD capacity fluctuates daily. The energy you had last January might not be the energy you have this January. And that's completely normal.

- Am I trying to push harder when I actually need to pause and regulate?
Here's the truth: Regulate before you motivate. Before you set goals, build routines, or commit to change, check in with your body first.

Because sustainable progress doesn't come from forcing yourself to do more. It comes from working with your brain, not against it.

This year, start with regulation. Everything else can follow.

As we close out 2025, I want you to pause and recognize something important:

You've learned more this year than you realize.

Every time you:
→ Chose rest over pushing through
→ Used an imperfect system instead of none at all
→ Started something (even if you didn't finish)
→ Spoke to yourself with kindness
→ Built accommodations instead of forcing discipline

You were practicing skills that will carry forward.

These aren't just lessons — they're proof of your growth.

Swipe through for the 5 lessons we're bringing into the new year. Because you don't need to start over from zero. You just need to keep building on what you've already learned.

Which lesson hits home for you? đź’™
